Veterans ONLY please. One year + post op.
I too have put on 8 pounds in past 6-8 months. I know what I've done and having a hard time stopping. I absolutely love the caramel frappes from Mc Donald's and StarBucks! I know they are wrong, I find I can't stop myself from getting them when I'm out and about. Specially with my daughter, she's hooked on them also. My surgery was Oct 2014. I can't stomach the Unjury shakes either anymore. My husband said if I could smell them I would've never started drinking them. My nose stopped working 3 1/2 years ago for no reason at all. Doing pretty good with other junk food, chocolate of any kind in anything I can't eat. I have to get strong and reject those nummy frappes, oh so hard.

What's your experience been with alcohol after surgery?
Just back from Western Caribbean cruise 7 days! Wonderful!!! Yes I drank, only one time I had 2 drinks in a row. Didn't hurt me at all, I just got tired quickly. Food was delicious, I can't do carbonated drinks at all. Found out a new drink for me, Miami Vice So so good.

Help! My Family Is Against My Weight Loss Surgery!
To this day and it will be 2 years Oct 27, I have told 4 people. My husband, my daughter and 2 sisters. One who wants wls but can't do it, has many problems. Just found out last month she will need a liver transplant before long. So no surgeon will touch her now with that and many other problems. Didn't even tell my son, he thinks I've done good in 2 years losing weight. 2 brothers and 4 sisters I have all say looking great! My mother had gastric bypass back in the 70's. she is super skinny now at 81, and younger siblings don't remember. I reminded them when her pain pills weren't working and she would cry in pain. The patch is working great for her, alzhiemers ? has mad her not eat , her food intake is not enough. I have recommended protien drinks for her at least twice a day. So when older you have to make sure someone knows of weight loss surgery. If you happen to be forgetful.

Benefits of Post-Op Surgeon Visits Beyond 1 Yr?
I've been seeing my family doctor every 6 months and just had my 2nd year blood work done. All good to go I did stop after my 1 year mark seeing the surgeon. Maybe it's wrong? But my 2nd insurance doesn't pick up payment for him.

Please allow me to vent.......
Yes go to the seminar and ask questions, they are the people who really got me to do this. I wanted it, but then my first seminar was the icing on the cake. I only wish I would've know about this procedure years ago. I was 57 when I had this done. I love buying regular size clothes, I never would get into a dress. Now I have 2, one for summer and one for winter. Going on cruise for my 2 year Anniversary to Eastern Caribbean Oct 16.

Bipolar disorder question
Yes the Seraquel was horrible for energy. I was walking with eyes still closed in am. I had to take at 8pm. He changed to Latuda 80mg a month ago, well I was on 40mg he upped it when I saw him 6 was later. I also take Trazadone 100mg at night and it's still got me dragging too. I also take Celexa and Welbutrin 450mg and bupropion. Bipolar, anxiety depression. I got on disability 5 years ago first go. Hope you get strengthen out.

What's on your plate?
If I need a snack at night because we eat very early like between 4-5pm most days then I get a frozen low fat yogurt. It's good that way, I do have to stick it in microwave for 18 sec so I can at least get a spoon in it lol.

Drinks and puréed food
I couldn't tolerate diet Vernors with the bubbles all about stirred out. Stuck to unsweetened tea, yes ok I add a packet of sweet and low. I drink 1 cup of coffee in am and then water. Seems like the only main thing I can really tolerate now. Oh and I still have a Unjury shake every day.

What's your experience been with alcohol after surgery?
I just had a bottle of Seagrams Peach fuzzy navel last night! Only took me an hour and half to drink it. Sure felt warm and fuzzy all over, slept good too. First drink was at 22 months only because I just don't think about having a drink, lol, its here. (I drank like a fish when it was legal at 18, about 30 yrs is when it just didn't mix anymore.) went on the Eastern Caribbean cruise in Dec 2015, had couple drinks while there. Ok every night while there , we would go to the club and sit listen to whatever and usually 2 hours I was done. I sure slept good on that ship. Going on the Western Caribbean in Oct, my I think I'll have fun. Oh having lots of fun buying new clothes, bought my first dress also. Yep never owned a dress before, besides my wedding dress Jan of 15. Enjoy people just go easy!

Bipolar disorder question
My bipolar started getting really bad once again! The anxiety is out of this world, gosh I can't even go out unless I'm with my husband. I feel all eyes are upon me, horrid dreams, extra dry mouth. Saw my psychiatrist he upped my Latuda to 80 mg. Celexa 40, Welbutrin 450mg and added Bupropion at night with Trazadone 100mg. Just started higher dose few days ago so can't tell much yet. See my psychologist every 2 weeks. I've been going through some very stressful days with personal problems my daughters family has been going on since March. He does seem a lot of my anxiety is from her problems and I've been so stressed but finally some resolve is coming through. He said now I'm relaxing more that it's like I can breath a little but I feel like I can't yet hence the added anxiety, and wow awful dreams. Seraquel was giving me so many problems had to stop that. Yes weight loss, rapid weight loss does interfere with your meds, even my heart pills were to much that it lowered to 1/2 a one. Just be careful not to adjust your own meds, you can do more harm. See your doctors and make sure they "remember" you had weight loss surgery.

You look wonderful!!! Amazing isn't it how it sags I too have this problem. I'm not as brave as you are to post a before and after picture. I still hate my photo taken for anything! I have lost 64 pounds and down to 158, My legs used to be my best asset! I have long legs that look good in a pair of size 8 skinny jeans. But as you go up I have the flat tire now, even a flat butt, flat boobs, but my husband loves all of me. Wish I did, would love a tummy tuck ahhh! Then a butt and thigh lift oh and the boobs! Yes wish there was insurance that went with the after. Guess I'll just enjoy life as it comes

Isopure (Yuck!)
If your over the 140* temp it does not mix at all! Nasty

List of necessities and pricing
You don't have to buy a blender, can use one of the blender jugs they have for sale at Walmart or any other store. It has a wire ball sort of in bottom to blend up the mix. I found some by the protien/energy/meal replacement items.

Isopure (Yuck!)
I wanted to get the unflavored one but I don't want to go overboard buying things. I have the chicken broth one. How do you usually prepare it? @@cindyw41 I prepare mine with my Keriug coffee pot Water, or microwave the water, boil it. Pour in about 8-10 ounces water in cup, put ice cubes in to bring water down to 140 or a bit less. Then put 1 scoop of chicken broth into cup and stir good. Done! I have put a scoop of unflavored into my coffee, I have to use 1 tsp sugar and creamer. But the water has to be 140 or a bit under or it won't mix well at all. I have a meat thermometer I got when I started I go by.

3rd day in hospital\Unable to pass Gas\VSG
Have you been on liquids a while? I was on 2 weeks liquids before my surgery one week before clear liquids. How much of a bowel movement can you do on a liquid diet. I went a week out before, yeah tmi I went, but not much at all. I did pass some gas, I too was in hospital 3 long nights agree on the pain meds, they cause lots of back ups. Maybe it's effecting the gas also? Try going off them and use Tylenol. A lot of us went off pain pills first day or two, some longer. Welcome to the weight loss world!

6 weeks
Diana74, yes you have lost 30 pounds in 6 weeks! Great success have you ever lost that much weight in 6 weeks before? Don't worry if you are following the nutritionist reccomandations then you are doing great! 6 weeks out you should be on soft foods now? I was on soft mushy at that time. Just put the scale away or weigh every week or let your surgeons office weigh you. You are so early out of surgery, the weight will fall off if you keep to your food plans and shakes. Good luck
