  1. Oh my, some typos. Calcium pills are huge reason I take gummies. I found the gummy calcium with vitamin D.
  2. Oh my that just sounds awful! I was told to take the chewable Flinstones complete. I still take one morning and night, not the best tasting but ok. Also take calcium with bit D. That's in gummy, just because they are huge to swallow. Liquid vitamins yuck! There is a lot of people that take the pills from the start also. I was told in beginning any pill small as a m&m is good, otherwise the medication you take if it can be crushed take with applesauce. Capsules some just pour in mouth and drink water after, or applesauce. I personally had no problems taking any of my pills, I do take a lot of medications.
  3. You needed to call your surgeon when you first started. Here it's almost before 7 and I wouldn't think he/she would still be in. You should be holding down your food and drinks.
  4. I find if I eat anything sweet I stall out. I had been having 1 scoop of frozen yogurt at night, wondered why I wasn't losing either. I think I saw someone wrote they stalled when they cheated. So I stopped eating anything I shouldn't be eating and went back to 2 shakes "Unjury" a day. I also keep my food intake down to protien and veggies. Had been also eating a lot of fruits. When I stopped that I started back up losing the weight!
  5. Great question, I'm 22 months out and would love to hear from ones out that long!
  6. Congrats on your progress so far! I also was using a straw in the hospital. I was in for 3 nights, had complications with my oxygen levels dropping when I would get up to walk. Used straw whole time there and still use a straw, I too have sensitive teeth.
  7. I'm 22 months out and starting weight was 220 if I remember right. I am 5'4 1/2 so my weight was slow coming off. In fact I'm just now down to 158 and pretty happy about that. I can wear a size 8 skinny jeans from Old Navy, but lately in my legs they are disappearing! My skinny jeans are kinda bagging...but I can't go down anymore because my floppy belly. I really need a tummy tuck and butt lift, at 59 I think I can pass on that. My husband loves me any way I am!
  8. Spanx's, I personally don't wear them but my daughter does. After 6 kids she's in great shape but has that little belly hanging a bit.
  9. I'm at 22 months and I take 2 Flinstones complete and 2 calcium with vitamin D. This is what my surgeon had told me and I still take them. Also a 10,000 unit of biotin for my hair and nails. I'm 59 now and my hair is in great shape and nails grow fast! Good Luck
  10. I have problems with them staying in my body so they work properly. I'm on some 24 hour pills, and I have to wonder if my symptoms I'm having is because of my sleeve? When I take a pain pill its only lasting 3 hours, then I'm ready for another one, but I have to wait 3 more hours. My bipolar meds need adjusted big time! Went from Abilify to Seraquel to Latuda. My symptoms still aren't under control.
  11. My surgeon has also coached me as the times went by. Also a good size for your protien is to cut it up to the size of a deck of cards! He told me to follow that and you will never go wrong. Then eat your veggies, I prefer to steam mine a few minutes just so they aren't raw. To me the raw ones feel to heavy in my belly.
  12. I too was told any pill smaller than a m&m I could swallow. Many that I take are that small. I also take 2 capsules that I had to open and swallow with unsweetened applesauce. But after2 weeks I was able to swallow those, my surgeon also gave me liquid pain releaver. I wonder about most of my medication now after surgery, can I go to lower dose? Does the capsule I take stay longer in the belly/intestines ? Or am I just flushing my pills right out? I see my psych dr later this month, those are mainly the pills I really have to stay on. Hmmm, the Abilify I was on stopped working, went to Seraquel and it caused upset stomach, my body jumping and jerking and dry ness in the mouth. Now on Latuda and my symptoms are still with me... Has anyone else have problems with their meds messing up?
  13. I copied the green peppers recipe down and will try that tomorrow. I did the rib ones today, used boneless ones. My husband said they were really good, myself I'm having a very hard time with my dry and burning mouth and that effects my taste buds. I'm sure the green peppers will come out great!
  14. You will be able to take larger drinks as time passes. A small bottle of Gatorade I can drink almost 1/2 when I come in from sweating. You will be able to hydrate just not gulp down like you do now.
  15. How exciting for you to begin this next journey in your life. There is a forum on here somewhere called the over 50. Gosh I can't remember it but so many people on there that has had weight loss in the 50's and beyond. I had mine done at 57 years, was the best thing I've ever done. My knees and hips are doing much better without the extra weight. Good luck on your journey. Oh and there are a lot of people on here to "help" you go through this.
  16. Oh my the transformation is awesome!
  17. Sorry my new husband and I have been together 14 years and married 1 1/2 yrs.
  18. #Djmohr, Your recipe sounds fabulous! I did buy the cook book from Laurel Randolph. But so far I'm finding what you've been cooking is far greater! I have not used my pot yet, had a last couple of stress filled days. Tonight is date night, movie and dinner. So I'm going to try boneless ribs on Saturday then on Sunday will try your green peppers. You must be an awesome cook! I have not really cooked so much since my first husband passed away 16 years ago. My new husband and I have been together 2 years and married a year and a half now. Keep putting those recipes out there or even send them to me by pm.
  19. Wow you got yours awfully fast, who did you order from? Mine just left Indiana but will get here tomorrow by 8pm. So I hope to be cooking in it on Thursday!
  20. I started using Biotin 10,000 units at my 6 month weigh ins before surgery. I am 22 months out and I still take it everyday. My hair loss is not noticible at all, I do lose some when shampooed but just a little more than before WLS. My nails grow fast also but still thin so I do the acrylic. I'm also 59 and my stylist says I still have thick hair and it grows fast!
  21. OMGosh, please don't let the few bad experiences hold you back! Most of us have had great stories. Only problem I had was taking out the drain, which some don't even have a drain. Yes it hurt, dr said must've wrapped around something because I was the exception. I'm totally Happy with my results even if I can't loos this extra 10 pounds I love that I can fit a size 8-10 in jeans, my body looks so much better and my pains have eased up to a degree. Love that I get satisfied with a small chicken breast and some veggies. I can't eat a full 6 ounce steak from Texas Roadhouse I do get non topping sweet potato and broccoli. Those I take home at least 3/4th of it for other meals. The steak I cut up for my 2 dogs and they love me! Please think about it more and be open minded to what your reading but know a lot of us have had Great Success! Good Luck
  22. I had to quit cold turkey 18 years ago! I was using a inhaler every cig I smoked! Yeah not good, now I still use inhalers 2 a day 2 puffs in am then pm. I also went into COPD and I'm on O2 at night and during day when needed. I'm not telling you this to get you to lose the cigarettes, it took me so long probably couple years to get really out of the habit of what to do with my hands! I would get in car light up, phone light up, had to have one sitting on the pot, yeah tmi. Now when I go past the smoke I get sick from the smell. Sometimes my lungs will get choked up from it, yep second hand smoke is horrid now. Good luck on quitting I have a lot of respect for you for your effort to stop.
  23. Well it does ease up I think I'm usually the opposite I know tmi. Probably the drugs I'm on has done that to me. But really some people have said when your eating solids it returns to normal, some say drinking shakes have them still checking. In the meantime RUN don't walk when u get the urge
  24. Ah yes he good ole wait increased pills! I have been on some good ones and just went off Seraquil 200 because the Abilify wasn't working. So many reactions to it, was on for 3 months and now I have the non stop moving. If my legs aren't moving my fingers are, if I try stopping my feet still then my body starts to jump. On Requip, not helping...started Latuda July, my ins for off military base has copay, they don't have most of the new and high priced drugs, so have to pay 50 dollars for it. You know these meds must be part of the reason I can't shake my extra pounds!
  25. Unjury has packets also to try, I'm 1 1/2 yrs out and still have a shake when my protien is down. They also have non flavored powder and you actually don't taste or smell it. I will cool my coffee down to 120 degrees and put the vanilla in my coffee. Mainly I use milk to mix it. It is pricey but I don't like the premier protien anymore, can't tolerate chocolate in anything so I use strawberry in with vanilla for a shake. I did buy a chicken soup canister of it just haven't tasted it yet. Good Luck
