MN - Minneapolis/St.Paul

Looking for folks to connect with from the northern suburbs, etc. I'm in Champlin but if we have enough folks maybe a rotation of locations to accommodate the variety of locations would be the way to go. I love a little coffee shop (can't drink it but love the aroma). Any thoughts?

Welcome Sarah! I currently live in Burnsville, but work in Minneapolis. We are also planning to move north soon... I hope you can make it to the dinners. I went to the first one. It was fun and great

Hi all! I'm kinda new around here. I've been reading the forums for a while, but haven't really posted yet. Today I finally got my surgery date, on October 13! I will be getting it done by Dr. Baker at Unity Hospital in Fridley. Has anyone else gone there? So far, everyone there has been amazingly helpful! :)

Hi tsjackie I am also having my surgery by Dr. Baker at unity hospital in October I really like him.

I do too! I just met him today for the first time and he was awesome. He answered all of my questions extremely thoroughly and had a very pleasant demeanor. I'm glad I picked him! When are you getting yours done?

I see him again on the October 9th then he will give me the exact date in October. The staff there is so nice I love Darla. I see her next week to go over everything for the surgery.

Happy one-month surgiversary to me! And bye, bye 32 pounds. So glad I made the decision I did. Thank you Dr. Osuna and the staff at Hospital Mi Doctor in Tijuana!!! You changed my life!

If anyone is interested, having an informal little get-together on Friday, 10:00 a.m., at the Starbucks in the Mall of America. I know a lot of people work that day, but just wanted to throw it out there.

Why, thank you very much!

Tossing confetti for Marybeth for her Surgiversary! 32 pounds is amazing!!!

Hey all, we are just growing by leaps and bounds here! That is fantastic. I'm sorry I missed last week. I think I rather like working at home but it is all too easy to get too involved and forget about life outside the four walls.

To those getting ready to go to Unity for your surgery - I had Dr. July and she was outstanding. All the folks at Baker and Associates AND Unity were excellent to work with for the entire experience. You are in very good hands. I'm looking forward to the next meet-up and looking forward to meeting everyone.

Chat with you all soon!

Oh, and the name is Tyra...Not pronounced like Tyra Banks but like Kyra what's her name...Sedgwick? Is that right? On the tv show, The Closer. Tear-uh...hhmmm, but truth be told, I answer to just about anything.

Looking forward to meeting the rest of the group it is so great having this support

Garden lady what is unity hospital like when we have surgery are we in a special bariatric unit I am having doctor baker

I am having trouble getting to my protein quota set by my doctor; at least 75-85 grams per day. I have been mixing protein powder with protein drinks just to get more in the mornings...but, boy oh boy, the calories add up. My morning routine comes to about 516 calories. That's one serving of Chobani yogurt with 1 packet of unflavored protein power and one Lean Body protein shake with one packet of unflavored protein powder. Those three items add up to more than half of the 800 calories I've been trying to stick to as advised for these first few months. I also take a handful of vitamins which must be worth at least 5-10 calories each.

Wondering if anyone knows anything about Genepro Genetic Tri-Protein Peptide. It says it contains 30 grams of protein (instanized peptide whey, hydrolyzed whey, and genetic hexapeptide protein.

Is this the kind of protein I want and need? One thing nice is that the serving size (one scoop) is much smaller than the packets like Unjury or Jarrrow Formulas, which I have been using. Plus it's only got 15mg of sodium. But is it the "right kind" of protein????

Thanks to anyone who can whey in on this topic :)
