Bad Nausea! I need Help

Recommended Posts

Am technically 7 days post op for my surgery but had to go back in due to issues recovering. So I was discharged from the hospital today. liquids gag or don't sit well. The smells of everything turn me off. I am so weak I'm scared at this point that I will never get liquids down. I take of ran and not 2 seconds later I vomit. Any help with this or hope would be great.

What are you sipping? Plain Water can be very difficult to drink and actually induce vomiting in some people. Certain flavers can also gag you. I had to completely change which shakes I drank. And even which flavor poweradezero I drank.

I also have to take zofran for a few weeks after.

If you have started taking Vitamins or are still taking pain medication they could be making you sick. Stop the drugs. As the previous poster said the Water can make you nauseous so you might need a little flavoring like crystal light, SF Kool Aid, or some of the others. The first week is pretty difficult and you just might need a couple of more days. Did your doctor give you some anti=nausea medication to bring home? If so take that and if not... call your doctor and get some. Good luck.

I had some nausea but not severe. Warm herbal tea worked for me. Chamomile and cinnamon read felt nice. Also sad to say but I rarely have plain Water - I have crystal light - so be life water 0 - Vitamin water 0… Please ask your doc for nausea meds if needed. If you cannot drink you will get dehydrated end up back in the hospital so please let the Dr know.

Are you taking Calcium? I had horrible nausea until I stopped talking the calcium supplements. I am pretty sure I need some sort of calcium other than my multi Vitamin but it was so bad I was curled up in bed all day. Within 1 day of stopping the calcium I felt 90% better.

I could not take my Vitamins during the first 2-3 weeks. I would regurgitate Water, liquids, soft foods etc. till I was 4 weeks out .. If you get too weak ..I'd call my dr to make sure you are all right. Better be safe than sorry.

I have nausea meds that that I tried taking last night and it dissolved under my tongue and 2 seconds later I vomited. Water seems to be going ok today. I'm just taking it slow. I just want to know the drinking gets easier??? Also did smells bother anyone???

yes smells bother me and it seems I can smell better than before the surgery. Strange I know but I have read others having this. Yesterday was my first day to drink ice water and it not give me bad reflux. It is a slow process but it will get better.

I didn't tolerate the acidic drinks like Crystal Light and Vitamin Water well. Chamomile and Peppermint tea went down very well and were soothing.

I thought I was crazy that I couldn't handle the smell of my dh's food this weekend. It made me crazy like when I was PG! Thanks for making me see I am normal. I am glad to see I can tell my husband I am normal.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
