  1. 2 weeks post op as of today and I am really struggling with nausea. My anti nausea medication is helping but I am still really uncomfortable and it is keeping me from hitting my goals. I can't seem to put my finger on what is causing the problem. Does anyone have some tips on how to minimize the nausea?
  2. I bought the magic bullet but it circulated to much air that wound up in stomach limiting what I could consume. It was undrinkable if I added any milk. Most of the time the froth would not dissipate no matter how long I let it sit. And once you put ice in, the froth is locked in. I tried just ice and Water first then adding the Protein powder but the crushed ice melted to quickly defeating the purpose. The immersion blender was better but still created too much froth.
  3. I am not really sure what's to post this. The bugs section doesn't seem to have any posts so I don't think there will be any visibility. I am only using the mobile app version : Old version Pictures usually don't load. Usually there is just a Grey spot where a picture should be. Sometimes they load but more often its Grey. Pro version: I can't figure out how to enlarge the pictures from the thumb nails. When you click a picture it opens a reply with a quote.
  4. I had clumps for the first few months until my chemist wife figured it out. Use room temperature water first. Use about 2/3rd the recommended amount. Shake it with the blender bottle. Make sure you use the whisk they come with. Shake shake shake. Then include the ice to make it cold. You should end up with the recommended amount of water once the ice melts a bit.

    Ditching the protein shakes

I doubt this could be done without shakes. It's tough enough to hit our protein goals even with the shakes.
  6. This is insane. Beautiful before and beautiful in a different way after. You're accomplishment is just stunning.

First day at the gym and I passed out!

So time had past I I think I figured a solution. I want taking in enough carbohydrates , sodium, liquids. The most important for me was sodium once I upped my salt intake I haven't had any dizziness . I still struggle with consuming enough liquids to avoid dehydration. I'm just glad the dizziness is gone and I'm able to work out pretty hard at the gym
  8. So today was my first real day at the gym. The day before I rode the bike for 45 minutes and that doesn't really count. Today I worked with a trainer on a strength assessment test. We only did about 5 workouts and I past out at the end for a few minutes. They thought it was a blood pressure issue so they were trying to get some circulation but that just made it worse. I became semi-coherent after about 5 minutes but my vision started to blur. After 15 minutes the blood pressure didn't seem to be the problem and I remembered when I got home after surgery I had the same problem and my wife made me eat Peanut Butter to get my blood sugar up. The trainer brought over some honey and that seemed to do the trick. They still made me sit eat honey and hydrate for the next hour though (I am glad they did). I am concerned about low blood sugar and passing out again, but I hate to give up core training. I also have tried really hard to cut out carbs and sugars but I don't want to pass out again. I also believe bending and standing really had something to do with it. Normally I get light headed when I stand from a sedentary position. Does anyone have some nutrition suggestions? P.S. if you are going to pass out you will want to be at LA Fitness with one of their trainers. I think I would have been screwed anywhere else.
  9. I literally had the same experience. My dad is better than anyone I know at respecting personal boundaries. But I went to church and someone came up to me asking how I was doing. I was so pissed at my dad and the situation he and the individual put me in. I just thought it incredibly rude of the individual to ask me the way she did. My wife was even blown away. I thought I had gotten over this but reading your post brought back the memory. I don't have a clue how it can be made right.
  10. I am excited to finally be able to shop for clothes any where I want.
  11. Jess, This is so thoughtful of you. I live in Santa Clarita but also work all around LA and North LA. But.... I too didn't like the premiere chocolate. The vanilla were OK but I got sick of those. Again. This was so sweet of you. I wish I could take them off your hands.

    carbonated beverages

If there was one thing you had to give up, it should be soda. Even sparkling water is loaded with sodium.

    Motion sickness and the sleeve

Before surgery I did ok with planes trains and automobiles. Boats are not bad, but not great. Rollercoasters have always been a nightmare. After surgery... Rocking in my arm chair makes me dizzy. Test the waters first. I actually did test the waters in a pool. It didn't go well.

    Always eating

Eating and drinking have been a chore for me. I rarely hit my Protein goal but when I do, it's because I consumed so many oz of liquid I was alternating Drink / eat/drink/eat. The gym has been a life saver for me. It's a ton of work, but it gives me plenty of energy, makes me thirsty and hungry for protein. But I do feel like my life revolves a round good now. And snacking has become a necessity.

3.5 months out & first bikini shot

Your skin has retracted very nicely. You look awesome.
  16. I share your problems at the gym. But i knew it was very important to let my trainer know what was going on with me and my surgery. This didn't prevent an episode (I passed out for a few minutes). I found out that when I perform an exercise that puts my head below my waist I get light headed. So my trainer just tailored my workouts to avoid this.

    Eating Slowly after the sleeve

This is extremely helpful information. Thank you for sharing.
  18. Your pictures kind of make you look like Chelsea Handler.
  19. I tried instant mashed potatoes earlier this week. I put a full scoop of iso pure unflavored protein powder which thined them out quite a bit. I put a small amount tarragon, garlic salt and pepper . They were amazing. By day three I ate about 3/4th of a cup with no ill side effects. I think the thin consistency help digest things quicker.

WATER PARK IN A TWO PIECE

Its amazing how our bodies react to change. You were a pretty girl when you started. Now you are stunning. Good for you.
  21. That is fantastic. I am really worried about the skin. It is really the only major concern I have even though I am more than a year from having to worry about that. I just know that its really important to help the skin retract while the weight comes off. I am jealous that you arent worried too much. I studied the surgery options and they dont seem viable for me. But never say never. Anyhow thank you for your reply.
  22. I am sure you are in a PPI like prilosec or some thing better, but are you taking it first thing in the morning and with a cup of water 30 minutes before you eat?
  23. Slim, Now that you have hit your goal weight, do you have an excess of loose skin? And if so how do you plan to handle that?

    Liquids freak

I don't think this is common but I wouldn't worry. Be greatful. One of the biggest problems we face is dehydration. Its so hard to get in enough liquid.
