4 days post op

My story so far :). I was sleeved on Tuesday, everything went smoothly they said. I was feeling good on Wednesday, able to tolerate PO liquid pain meds and small sips of Protein shakes. They sent me home with instructions to follow my full liquid diet x14 days. I noticed Thursday AM that the nausea was pretty intense- even with the PO Prilosec. I was only able to do small sips and barely managed to get 20 grams of protein in :(. By that evening I had dry heaved & was convinced I had caused a leak. I was in tears and kept saying "what have I done"- but my husband was a trooper. After checking to see that I had no temp, he called the surgeon. The surgeon called in a script for dissolvable Zofran pills at 11pm that night.

What a miracle those little pills have been!! Yesterday and today I have managed to slowly increase my intake. I am sipping on Protein Shakes, and making creamed Soups with a scoop of powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury unflavored Protein powder added. I have also had sugar free pudding and Popsicles. I have to force myself to drink Water, but am doing better by adding Crystal Light. What is everyone else eating?

I am amazed at how people have gone back to work so quickly, I get worn out just showering and taking small walks! I think I will be using the full 6 weeks of leave my surgeon put on my HR paperwork.

I am so thankful for these boards- when I was in full out pity party mode, reading other's posts helped snap me out of it :).

I was also sleeved on tuesday also. Started liquids that evening. Had a little heartburn. Went home Wednesday evening. Pain on my right side. Never experienced nausea or vomiting. Week 1 for me now on pureed, progressiing very good, bored, tired of being in the house.

I've been feeling hungry as well. I also seem to have no problems drinking Water or Protein shakes. I'm a little worried about this. I hope this works for me! Good Luck!!

Yes I am not having problems drinking water or my shakes but my dr said that it's due to the swelling already going down. I'm a fast healer (I've been told) so I kind of expected it. I still feel satisfied after 1/4 a cup of yogurt or cream of wheat just not over full and uncomfortably when I haven't even finished the 1/4 cup!

Ps does everyone else eat out measuring cups and use baby spoons? Lol. I do so many dishes because me and my daughter compete for the baby silverware. I thankful I have a lot of measuring cups though!

I eat out of shot glasses! Lol! post-197629-0-50381500-1400041626_thumb.jpg

My doc actually have me medicine cups and a little spoon to use so I know exactly how much I should be eating and of what.

I'm not using small cups or spoons just trying to stick with pre-measured foods. I've been really trying to get in 64 oz of Water. I'm feeling dehydrated though. Not sure if I need more water or more calories. I have to stop trying to rush everything. I want it all now. Haha!! Tomorrow is my post op appt.

Hade my post op today and I can start food minimal of course yogurt eggs and cottage cheese at least it's food

I'm jealous :(. I'm on full liquids until next Tuesday, the puréed. Today I'm feeling dizzy & weak. I have been getting around 60g of protein in, but not enough water. First post op appt tomorrow.

Ditto to being jealous! I have to wait until next Tuesday as well! It's getting easier, not easy by any means but I'm used to the same 5 things I always alternate between eating/ drinking. Lol.

Me too! I try to have 4 of my HMR protein shakes/ day, then eat creamed soups, SF pudding, SF jello, and SF Popsicles. I would kill for mashed potatoes and/or puréed meat!!

Hello everyone,

I was sleeved a week ago (May 7th). I guess I'm one of the lucky ones (so far). I have no problems with getting my Water, or eating. I am on a full liquid diet for a full 2 weeks after the surgery. The gas wasn't pleasant at all; it took me 5 days before it was all gone, and its been great since then.

I've lost 12-lbs in the week since my surgery. I go back to work in another 8 days, after I see the surgeon and get my release back to work.

Its obvious from the posts our recoveries are all different; however, we each share the same goal, si I wish everyone the best on our journey to health and a better life.

It only gets better from here!

Take care,

Julie

Sleeved monday the 12th...Nasaeu has me in bad shape..I have been sipping on one bottle if water all day...No food in my future

Do you have meds to help my doc gave ones that dissolve they really help it will get better

Ladies day 4 post opt..Should I be doing protein shakes?

Yes, get your protein any way you can

Yes protein shakes also count as you liquids so if they want you to get in 64 oz of water; shakes count!
