Feeling a Bit Overwhelned!

Recommended Posts

I had my Pre op appointment yesterday and il'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. All the info about risks and complications has me freaked out! I know they have to o over it all, but geez, talk about scary!! My two week liquid diet starts today. It consists of three Protein shakes per day. That's it!! Only Decaf tea, coffee, Crystal Light, or Water between meals. I did buy some sugar free popsicles and Jello because I know they are virtually calorie free and still considered liquid.

I'm not trying to complain, but as I said, just feeling overwhelmed. Words of comfort or advice through this phase are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

well, there is the fact that "we've all been there"...literally.

Any surgery has it's risks, and the doctor would be remiss not to tell you them... that said, think about the risks of continuing on this path...gaining weight no matter what you try... you had to reach a breaking point, that nothing was working for you, for you to seek out the information about this surgery.

So, take a few cleansing breaths...sit down with a nice hot cup of Decaf tea and relax!

The liquid diet you are on is pretty standard...the first few days are the hardest, as your body de-toxes... for me, after about day 3, it seemed much easier, and by the end, I didn't even think about it twice, just did it! :)

I thought giving up my Diet Coke habit (MAJOR) was going to be hard...but I don't miss it at all...

We are here for you...stay strong and carry on! ;)

You're going to be fine! Is it easy? Nope. Not at all. But you can do it! The popsicles are going to be a little slice of heaven. How about broth, can you have that? I loved making homemade chicken Soup (giving the solids to the dog, LOL) and savoring the hot broth. Now's a good time to experiment with different herbal teas if you like that sort of thing. Before you know it, the two weeks will be over and you'll be joining us on the loser's bench.

Be well…

I'm with you Kpay, I go in to my surgeon for my pre-op visit TODAY!! I start liquids tomorrow, my surgery's set for May 5th. Keep in touch, let us know how you are doing with the liquids and I will too. Tick Tock Tick Tock we're almost there!

The first few days will be the hardest as you detox off of carbs and old habits of eating all the time. The closer I got to surgery, the easier it became for me. I ate LOTS of popsicles, too. It's kinda funny because since surgery, I've not had one popsicle. I just don't want any!

Good luck! Hang in there and keep your eye on the prize.

I understand. You will get through it. I am leaving the hospital now. It's rough but in the end you will do it. Figure out what is the most challenging time of the day for you and try to stay distracted. My time was the evening.

Thanks everyone! Your support means a lot! Day 1 wasn't too bad! I had my 3 shakes, 1 Decaf coffee, and 64 oz of Water and did fine. I really think being on a 1200 calorie diet with reduced carbs the past few months is going to help make this an easier transition for me. Thinking the shakes are going to get a bit boring, though, so I'll have to look for ways to jazz them up a bit. On to Day 2!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
