May 2014 Sleevers

I finally got my insurance approval this week and my surgery is scheduled for May 20. If seems SO far away but hoping the time will fly by. I've been trying to adapt my diet to more like it will need to be post-op but find myself eating horribly about once a week. I think it's the food funerals starting. I did really well during the week and had lost 2 pounds this week and then last night after work ate whatever I wanted (it wasn't good). Are others going they this same struggle?

Would love to find people who are anxiously awaiting their May surgery dates and be here to provide support for each other as we start this journey to change our lives!

Hi im a May 1st sleever. 1st day home. No probs w fluids-nausua-gas. But got on scale and up 9 pds. Laying in bed right now thinking I feel 100% normal. Drank 20 oz protein and 20+water! What's wrong? Did they not take it out?

Search "Hospital Weight Gain" a few people have posted about it in the PCOS forum and seem to have gained 7-10 lbs of water from IV fluids etc in the hospital. I'm sure it will come off quick. Good luck!

Well today is my first day home from the hospital. As expected I am in a lot of pain and still have a lot of gas that I am unable to get out. I am having a hard time with the fluids but I am doing my best so I don't end up back in the hospital dehydrated. I feel hungry but I am pretty sure it's all in my head. How are all of the other May 1st sleevers doing? Oh and I started at 260and I am down to 246 after a week.

I got home from the hospital yesterday, and I'm feeling very leery of taking in anything other than water at this point. I haven't had any CO2 gas issues, but boy, the gas-in-the-tummy sure can be uncomfortable. Lots of walking when I'm not sleeping, lots of ice chips.

I tried some broth earlier today, and didn't get excited. Last night was really difficult, and I spiked a fever for a couple of hours there. But I think it's just the gas and acid settling down, and getting off the morphine and onto the codeine.

I feel like just taking it slow and easy, and listening to my body before I push anything. I haven't had any incision pain, although I do feel sore from the deeper incision. Having the drain removed yesterday before I left the hospital was . . . interesting.

My main goal is just to heal and get as much water as possible. The rest will come, I'm sure.

I got home from the hospital last night. Been doing good. Drinking almond milk for protein and sips of water and also been walking around the house. I had a couple sharp passing pains in my side but could just be gas or I drank too fast

That's amazing! I'm sure you know your only up 9lbs because of the surgery yes? Wow I'm so happy to hear of another "no problem" feeling normal recovery! All the best and keep us posted :)

Amy373 you're up 9 lbs? From what?

I'm assuming up 9 from all the fluids they pump in u so u don't get dehydrated. I shouldn't have even stepped on scale cause my feet n hands are so swollen. But hoping to keep myself off the scale for a few days! N than bam results!

I was up 8 pounds the first night from retaining water. So don't worry you're not alone lol

Amy373 you're up 9 lbs? From what?

I don't know about Amy, but I had bowl surgery last year, when I came home from the hospital i was 14lbs up!! It was all the fluids they were pushing. It came of after a couple days. Freaked me out at first tho.

Arrived in Eagle Pass TX. Surgery tomorrow. I am so ready!!!!!

How exciting! Good luck! I am on day 3 post op and am feeling really good.

I drank some broth tonight and omg it tasted like the best ever. Haha. I've been drinking soy milk and drinking water. Not feeling hungry just head hungry really. But I am down 9 pounds since my surgery weight. I had surgery on Thursday the 1st.

Broth has definitely helped. Had my surgery May 1st. Still a little sore but no hunger. Feeling like this was the best gift I could ever give myself.
