Have you been drinking your Water, and keeping hydrated? How did you make your shake? Did you use milk or water? I have heard of people not handling the shakes after surgery. I have been on my pre-op diet and I am drinking the shakes and they give me diarrhea too I am using water in them like it says but I feel like crap? I don't know if it's the brand of shake I am using cause I have used the whey that you can buy in walmart, and that doesn't bother me like this one that i got from my doctor? If you are making the shake with milk try it with water and if that still is bothering you I would say try a different Protein substitute drink, such as there is that one from GNC natures choice Isopure, and it's looks like Gatorade? Check it out??? Good luck!!!

I'm using the Walmart one with skim, I can't even fathom having any right now :/ yesterday I only got about 20 oz if water down usually I get 36 :/ this is so tough

don't get upset, if you have questions call your doctor if you feel that it is necessary, but keep breathing, and you will get there, don't forget your stomach is still swollen, what did you have for surgery? Maybe you should try it without the milk. There are people that have a hard time with dairy, not as many as I thought, but I knew a girl that had the bypass a long time ago, and she couldn't drink any milk or eat ice cream or anything, so it might just be that? But like i said if it still happens with the Water try the isopure? it is a little expensive but if its all you can get down then I would suggest it to get your Protein in as it has a lot of protein in it!!!

Just do what works best for you cause what works for others may not work for you??? Good luck!!!

I just had my surgery Monday. And found out milk makes me SICK SICK SICK. Bought silk soymilk light today to make the shake with. Didn't make me sick this time. Definitely am staying away from milk. I still have so much bloating though :/ and nauseated always.

Trying to stay positive!

With only one exception that I'm aware of, you don't want to rely on protein shots for getting your daily protein. Almost all of them on the market are made with collagen protein which is virtually indigestible. It doesn't matter how much protein is in it if it can't be digested. The only exception that I've ever seen is Yes Whey which is made with whey isolate. I've never tried one but those who have say the taste leaves a lot to be desired. But it is a healthy option with a highly digestible source of protein.

My doc sells "unjury" Protein. It's 23 grams per shake and complete whey protein. It's not bad- the have vanilla, chocolate, chicken Soup, unflavored. I don't particularly like the strawberry. Vanilla with vanilla light soy has been my favorite so far. You can prob find online.

Also a new brand called "nectar" it's the same but in flavors like Cappuccino, fuzzy navel, and tea.

Congrats on your surgery! I had mine on Monday too! Glad you found a substitute for the milk. I'm bloated, but it's expected. Besides that, I'm doing well so far.

Milk didn't sit well with me after my surgery either. Even tried skim and it made me have diahrea and cramping! Still have never tried it again and I'm almost a year out.

Yea I'm afraid to try the shakes again :/ I've been doing the whey protein shots... Mixing it with water.... This seems to be working better... I've been also living off of lemon water it's amazing!

I've been using lactaid milk and I do well with it. I had surgery on the 5th and been getting my water in ok, but a lot of things are making me gag. Even the smell.

Greek yogurt with the lactaid is good, and oatmeal that is really runny was really good. The nectar roadside lemonade is also tolerable. That's about all I can tolerate for now. Gas is still kicking my booty though!!! I also still have to take the pain meds.

i don't know about other people's tastes but for me I tried to drink the Isopure after surgery and it made me sick... The taste is horrible in my opinion. I like the pre made shakes called Adkins advantage chocolate flavor and the Bariatric Advantage strawberry or chocolate powdered shake mixes best. I sometimes now after two weeks post op, use almond milk in my shakes instead of Water for added Protein and taste. The unsweetened vanilla almond milk is good. I've never loved real milk but i can tolerat this one well
