Zoefruitcake, is your surgery on the 26th? Mine is at 9:30 that day and I have to be ther at 7:30. I live far from the hospital so am spending the night at a hotel.

I feel like you do.. "Am I REALLY doing this?"

10 days post op and on protein only mushy pureed. Just had the dog groomer come and we were outside talking about my fruit trees and noticed that the kumquats were ripe and popped one in my mouth without thinking. It tasted so good but I didn't chew enough (size of grape) and I'm not allowed fruit especially citrus. So I'm sitting here waiting to see what happens.

Other than that I have lost 8 pounds since surgery and went out to the movies and grocery shopping.

Happy Valentines Day to everyone!!! :P :P

So glad to hear from you Claire. Erin, you are doing amazingly well. Everyone sounds like they've got this down. I can only hope I do as well as you all are.

Happy Valentine's day to all.

Shmily, I'm on the 19th, so only a little ahead of you. I'm an hour away from the hospital, and with all the bad weather we're having here I'm hoping there won't be trees down and flooding preventing me getting there

I'm having trouble getting my water and protein in. I can't stand any protein powder. I've tried several different ways and my stomach just can't take it. I usually just gag. :( Even the flavor less still has flavor in full liquids. I used it pre op in eggs and such and it wasn't that bad but these shakes are going to be the death of me.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Zom,

I don't need to have protein shakes with my regime but I was looking in an American bariatric cookbook and they suggested using Protein powder as an ice cream with milk. Apparently it makes it less sweet and tastes nice. i have ordered a chocolate one from Amazon which will arrive tomorrow.

Would you be able to try that do you think?

Claire

I was just thinking about trying sugar free ice cream in my shakes to maybe them thicker and taste better. But the thing is, I got flavor less protein powder and it still made me gag when I put it anything. I think it won't be as bad when I'm able to eat some soft foods cause right now I'm on full liquids. :(

I just order some different protein powders today and I see my nutritionist on Monday so I will ask her for some help to manage.

How are you doing with everything?

I'm doing pretty well besides the head hunger. I want something to actually EAT sooo bad.

Premeir protein pre mixed at Sam's club are delish!!!

Hi, anything milk, chocolate vanilla etc makes me gag or nauseous for hours. I like the 15 calorie minute maid light mango and passion fruit drink: 8 ounces with 2 scoops nectar unflavored protein, mixed and frozen fir about 10 - 15 minutes until icee consistency. I can stomach this for breakfast.

If I'm feeling okay, I purée a Dole's peach in juice cup, strain it and add it too. If i do I add a third scoop of protein.

I also like 4 ounces water with orange Kool-aid liquid and a scoop of the unflavored protein. I also freeze until icee consistency.

I sip it, let the heat of my mouth warm it and "Tada"

Hi All,

New to this site. This is the first thread that I read here and I must say that I am really impressed with how supportive and responsive everyone is here! I am schedule for RNY Feb 20 and am struggling my way through my pre-op liquid diet. Also starting to get a little anxious about the whole thing. I keep looking at my stomach and thinking that by the end of this coming week it will be completely different and it kinda weirds me out.

Love reading all of your tips. Anyone else going under on the 20th?

Someone here, I think zoefruitcake, is going the 19th and me the 26th. My cousin had the sleeve in Sept and told me that for the first 2 days I will regret it but after that it is downhill.

My surgeon said that I would hate her at first but that a year from now I would love her and be thanking her for how good I look. My boss had it done 13 yrs ago and says its the best thing she ever did. I just keep telling myself to focus on getting through this week.

Welcome, Patti. I am sure you will find lots of great advice here. I know i have. I'd originally hoped for the 20th, but now am hoping for March 6th. But last I checked Mayo still hasn't even submitted to my insurance yet. At least my insurance doesn't show it as pending. I really need it in early March. My husband and I need to move April 1st. And he can not pack up this house alone. We'll be moving from 5,000 sq. Feet to probably a one bedroom apartment.

Hi Patti, welcome.

yes I'm a day before you on the 19th, just had blood taken yesterday and a surprise ECG, which was fine
