I met with my doc and had the info session last week. We scheduled my appointment with the surgeon for Feb 4th. I will finish my required 3 month diet and behavior modification program the end of January. After the appointment on the 4th they willsubmit for insurance and I hope to be under the knife on Feb. 20th. Can't wait

I hear you. I am on day one. U am already ready be done with this part. Lol. But u got one thing right we will make it

OMG... I knew the pre-op diet was going to be tough but I am only on day 6 of 30 and it seems like forever. I can honestly say I am hungry. My sense of smell has gone hog wild. I was walking the mall this morning and I could smell the pretzel shop food and they weren't even open. I don't even want to eat crap. I would settle for a dried out chicken breast at this point. 3 shakes and a protein bar is not much. I know I can do this but I just needed to vent a bit. It is a means to an end and if it can make my surgery safer and my recovery easier I can and will do this thing. It can only make me stronger, right?

Thanks for listening to my whining.

Got final final approval. 2/3 it is. Now the real panic starts. :-)

The preop diet has been one big fail for me. However, after my information session today I feel better equipped and inspired to make it happen for myself.

I am ready to go! The 3rd is gonna be here before you know it!

Thankfully my doctor only has us do a 5 day liquid diet (I start the 20th) how long is everyone else's diet?

I'm on mine for 2 weeks. :)

Oh wow! Is it a liquid diet or just a regular diet? I'm just wondering all the differences between our doctors diets.

Hi,

I think I am so lucky really with my pre op diet. I really don't like milk so I am glad that I don't have to do that, which was the other option I had. That was 1 salty drink , 40 fl ozs of fluid plus 80 fl ozs of milk. I am on 3 pieces of fruit a day, 10 fl ozs semi skimmed milk, a diet yoghurt and any amount of vegetables and restricted amounts of meat, fish or eggs each day.

So breakfast is a 2 egg mushroom and tomato omelette .

Lunch is chicken or beef soup made with 3 ozs meat, stock and vegetables and a diet yoghurt

Supper is 6ozs fish( or could be meat) with vegetables and one piece of fruit

Banana milkshake made with second fruit and the milk plus one other fruit as snacks.

So I am not hungry at all, it is just way less fruit, and variety and quantity than my day to day Slimming World eating plan. Obviously if we were going out or seeing friends I would have eaten different things but still following those principles. I have to do it for 3 weeks rather than 2 weeks for the milk diet and now my op date has moved forward by a day but I think I will be ok. I am missing all my normal foods and it is having a real impact on going out etc but i am not going through what so many of you are going through on your pre op diets. I wonder why they vary so much.

Just keep hanging on in there, it must be so hard. You will get there I am sure

Claire

My diet is 10 days long which I start in a couple days and am completely nervous about! I have to drink 3 protein shakes a day and 1-2 cup of vegetables or fruit and an optional protein bar.

It seems like a lot compared to some of these pre op diets! I feel for you guys who have to do it for weeks or more.

Good luck everyone. We are getting so close! February is right around the corner!

I received my date, it is gonna be 2/10/2014. I have to say one thing about this liquid diet, it is killing me. I hope that everyone else is doing great.

My class went really well yesterday. I had a pre-admission appointment as well. They did blood work and an EKG. I also received a bottle of soap to wash my abdomen the night before and the morning of surgery.

The class I wish I had taken earlier. It was very informative and gastric bypass specific. I finally learned what my DR expected as far as straws, caffeine, alcohol, etc.

I am not going to lie. I am a little nervous about not being able to drink alcohol for a year.

PrincessErin, you can order virgin drinks that look and taste as good as having alcohol. If you are a beer drinker unfortunately carbonation is bad too. Having one normal drink will make you legally drunk so maybe that is a good thing for some people. My big issue is my diet caffeine free Pepsi, I will truly be mourning that!!!!

I do love beer but I can live without it. I drink a lot of rum. I don't know how that's gonna work afterwards.

Hi,

I think a pre op class is really helpful, we don't have those where I am having my surgery. I am having my pre admission tests on Monday and meeting the bariatric nurse so I am sure that will he helpful. Only just over a week after that until my surgery. Several of you will be having yours next week though and my thoughts are with you all with your diets beforehand and any last minute jitters (or maybe that's just me!)

Take care
