String Coming From My Incision Site?

I am 3 weeks banded and my incisions are nicely healed so I have been putting vitamin e oil on them and while massaging I noticed a tiny bump. I looked in the mirror and sure enough there was a piece if rope-like thread in the corner where my skin has healed around it. Probably no more than 1/8 of an inch. Has anyone else had this? I'm not sure it is supposed to be there ... I did trim it with a small pair of scissors. My fill is next week, if its still there I am going to have them check it out.

I didn't have any strings and I would call my Doc to ask , just to make sure what it might be as I would have not want to mess anything up , so please call your doc so they can look to make sure everything is o k and they can look.

It is a stitch, nothing to worry about. It happens frequently and will degrade.

Good luck on your first fill.

As AJ said, it's just a stitch that didn't fully dissolve and is now working it's way up. Either it will slowly come up the rest of the way or dissolve. Your doctor may even just remove it with a tug.

I've had that happen with two different surgeries. It's more common than people realize.

Those are your stitches :) They self dissolve but it's possible for them to surface. Trimming is ok, pulling is not :)

I had the same thing when i was banded, it fell off. It was a stitch. I actually took a pic of it

Same here, had a couple of visible stitches- freaked me out but doctor said it was ok.
