The Slow Losers Thread

  • Popular Post

Hi guys. There are a few threads on here where people are talking about how slowly they think they're losing, compared to others. Of course, we're all different, we all start at different weights and we all do some things differently (calorie intake, exercise etc).

And I don't mean to start this thread so we can compare ourselves to others, that's not the point. But rather, this could be a thread where we can keep encouraging each other and people who are worried they're not losing as fast can see and be reassured they're not alone :-)

I think it's so interesting that our nuts/docs aren't worried and tell us how they've heard it all before and it will happen etc. It's reassuring but also kind of weird - what do they know that we don't? Lol.

I know that if I continue to lose at 1 lb a week, I'll be where I want to be this time next year. I can handle that, especially as I don't feel deprived and I don't feel like I'm dieting.

If you are losing slowly, please know that you're not the only one and please post your feelings :-) Lx

So I'm 9 months and 60 pounds...sounds okay but over the last 5 months I've lost 10 pounds....I'm averaging 2 pounds a month at this point with about 40 pounds to go (though I'll be okay with 25). My

Weigh in day. Im now week 8 and this weeks loss was .... zilch! nada! zero!

Ahh, my first stall. Not a good feeling considering im only a total of 18 lbs down from DOS.

But I'll take it and ride it out, cos it's sure better than a gain and hopefully this also means a bigger loss next week? fingers crossed.

Im going to have to cut out the small amount of oatmeal and toast im allowed on my plan as im starting to crave carbs in a big way. I find my portions creeping up slowly and the ratio of carbs to protein getting out of sync.

Im going back to basics this week.

It seems strange that im hungry. ..quite hungry - so early out.

Hope everyone else is doing well. :-)

I am 3 wks post n I know I have already hit a stall, which I am somewhat depressed but i try to motivate myself thinking that I must take it slow ti achieve a healthy weight loss. I see many of u posting that u guys have loss about 50 to 60 lbs in a short time n i wonder if the same will happen with me i just need to loose 60 to 70 lbs ti be at 130 to 120.

Congratulations!!! I am very happy for you. ????????????

I'm one of those that has stalled at 6 months out. I had Gastric Bypass Jan of this year and have lost 50 lbs and have 45 lbs to go. Can't get below the 200 lb mark--so frustrating!! Main problem I don't have dumping and I don't get full feeling and I don't have problems with any type of food. Any suggestions?

I'm right there with you Windy! So frustrating!...I don't dump either and can eat a normal size meal no problem???

Keep in mind the 3rd week stall is normal and the scale will move again and if you are starting at a lower weight it may take a bite longer to lose...most losing those 60 plus lbs in short time started at a much higher weight than you

Not sure if id be considered a slow loser or not but I feel like it lol I have lost 25lbs and 7 weeks out....im doing about 2 a week since my 3rd week stall so I will take any loss because I was not getting these results on my own. I need to get active but with my job/lifestyle its a challenge hopefully once the holidays are over I can get back to some walking!

I need to increase my activity and exercise too. I started out great while on leave from work.. .but I have been unable to find the time anymore. Must reorganize my time

What are you guys doing for exercise? I live in CT and it's snow season. It's extremely difficult to even go outside to walk because there is ice/snow everywhere. Plus, I have a 20 month old toddler that I have to bring along so that doesn't help much either. I feel as though I need to kick my weight loss into overdrive because the scale has not moved for a LONG time and I am only 3 weeks out!! I have a good 150 pounds to lose and nothing is happening! I'm starting to get really frustrated. What are some exercises you guys do??

My endocrinologist recommended an exercise program you can buy at Target. I think it was called Walk Off the Weight? Or something similar. It's a walking in place program - you only need a chair to hold onto. You can do it in front of your TV. Sounds great for cold winters. :-)

Hi all..its my weigh day again. Week 9. This week I lost 3 lbs which is very welcome since I stayed the same last week.

I've now lost a total of 22lbs since my surgery on 10/21/13 and a total of 36lbs since I began my pre-op diet.

Nobody has noticed yet. I can certainly feel my clothes becoming looser, but I havnt been getting any comments yet.

Nobody knows I've had surgery except my mom and my partner. They tell me my face is less puffy but it's not noticeable anywhere else as yet.

My back pain has subsided about 75%. I only feel niggles after a long walk or getting in and out of the car.

Im feeling quite tired and apparently my iron is low, so im now on iron as well as my regular vits and calcium.

Enjoy Christmas everyone!

I have lost almost a hundred pounds since April. It should have been obvious for quite some time that I have been losing. It was only recently (just this month) that customers at work have noticed and are commenting... and now suddenly I'm getting comments A LOT! Like 10+ times a day! I'm not used to compliments - it's a little disconcerting.

Im not a fan of attention either. For years I got plenty of bad attention ( ie "oink oink" " thunder thighs" and young guys laughing and making fun) so part of me can't wait to hear a genuine compliment. :-)

from someone who absolutely is not used to hearing compliments, it's totally unnerving!!! :D I like it!!! I like it a lot :D but it's still awkward and I still don't really know how to reply, I just give a self conscious laugh and say thanks and keep rolling. Don't know that I'll ever get completely used to it.

I really feel uncomfortable with all the comments on my appearancr sometimes. I never know what to say.

Congrats on the 3lbs! Our dates are pretty close, I have my 8 week check up today according to my scale I have lost 26 since surgery day.

It only shows in my face and my tummy has gotten a little more jiggly but still wearing the same size.

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas as well!
