Almost 1 Week Post Op Sleeve

Well I had gastric sleeve on November 4, I was excited and scarred and ready to get it over with. I'm feeling great but I struggle with some nausea especially while consuming the protein (idk if it's from burnout or what) I don't crave food and I'm not hungry but my spirits aren't as high as I thought they would b.

anyone have any similar post op feelings??

Are you mixing your Protein shakes with dairy?

I developed nausea post op and chalked it up to dealing with a new sleeve. It got worse until I was plagued by digestive issues. It took me a while to actually put two and two together and realize I'd developed lactose intolerance. Some folks develop it, so it's worth checking out.

I found a lactose free shake that mixes well with Water and that helped.

If this is the case, don't despair. At some point around a year post op I found I could consume most dairy, with the exception of milk, heavy cream and ice cream. I can even eat cottage cheese and yogurt again. It does get better with time.

It could also be your supplements. If you're taking them with your morning Protein Shake, it could be causing you to feel ill. If the dairy isn't the culprit, be sure it's not your Vitamins.

Good luck and congrats on your sleeve.

I had my surgery on nov 4th too, but my Dr. still has me on a clear liquid diet. I won't start full liquids until 1 week post op. Reading these post are very informative. Hope your spirits get lifted soon, as you have made a great decision with the surgery!!

I had mine on the 4th as well, I'm still little sore at my incisions and tired, averaging one to two naps a day. I'm having strong, epigastric discomfort thru to my back, so because of this I'm taking my pain meds twice a day. I was not placed on a ppi after surgery so if not better by Monday morning I will be calling the office. Other than that, I'm still on clears until Tuesday morning, I'm averaging 5000 steps per day, and I'm down 23.7 pounds from my highest in September.

I had my surgery in the 28th. I quickly learn that milk is no longer my friend. I still have cottage cheese and lots if Greek yogurt though without issue. I suggest and unflavored protein that you can add to everything any anything!!! Unjury is great!!! Good luck.

Thanks all!!!

I appreciate all the input

I'm feeling a little dehydrated today as my toilet routine (yeah that's embarrassing) took a turn definite turn into liquidville ????

Anyways I've already downed a liter of Water, incredibly I've found that my body tolerates room temp water better.

I'm still on clears on won't b able to advance to fulls until Tuesday after I meet with my dietician and doc. I'll try to get the unflavored unjury, thanks for letting me know about it!

Okay I'm rlly thankful for this forum.

In proud to say that I'm down 20.4 pounds from my initial weight!!!

That makes me feel great about it and the strength to keep me going!

God bless

I am one week post op as well. I have lost 24 pounds since surgery. On full liquid today. I can down water cold or room temp no problem. Protein shakes I am having problems with. They want me at 40 grams till I am on reg food. So I bought greek yogurt it has 22 grams then a glass of skim milk later with 8 grams then sf pudding with flavored unjury in it.
