  1. I'm 2 weeks out and have lost 6 pounds since surgery. I find myself frustrated, then I step back and realize, I AM just two weeks out, stalls in weeks 2 and 3 are very common. I think my body will adjust better when I am able to have real food, all Protein and no carb, which will be next week. Hang in there, I spoke to a lady before my surgery and she said she had a 39 day stall before the weight began falling off again. We're here to support each other! I'm only 2 weeks behind you.
  2. I have always been obese, long before I became a nurse over 12 years ago. I too found it interesting the number of RN's on here. I have researched WLS for probably 8 years now. I had friends that had the band, lost initially then gained even more back. There were 3 people from my home town that passed away from long term complications from bypass. The sleeve intrigued me over two years ago, then my sister, who is a PA, had the sleeve done in March. I have tried many diets with my co-workers over the years and like many others, I lost, only to gain even more. I do believe the long hours, wonderful Snacks from families, and stress all contribute to our obesity problem as a profession.

    Is It Just Me?

Lol! I'm 12 days out and I swear every commercial is about food. My night in the hospital, I think it was even worse.

    2013 November Sleevers

How are ya'll doing that have had your sleeve done the first half of the month? I had mine on the 4th, not quite 2 weeks yet but doing well. So far no issues with any liquid I have tried, dairy doesn't bother me, spicy doesn't bother me. I am so pleased with my decision, I feel so much better already. Today was day 2 at the gym, very slow consistent 20 minutes on the treadmill but you have to start somewhere, right?!?!? Only down 8 pounds since surgery, scale is stuck but everyone is telling me they can see it especially in my face. I still need to measure, maybe I'll go so that now. Lol! Ya'll have a great weekend!

    So Many Problems. Worth It?

I agree. You need to let your surgeon know about the coffee ground consistency. I'm so sorry you are having such a rough time! Hang in there, it will get better, it has too. Positive thoughts your way! Keep us posted.

Almost 1 Week Post Op Sleeve

I had mine on the 4th as well, I'm still little sore at my incisions and tired, averaging one to two naps a day. I'm having strong, epigastric discomfort thru to my back, so because of this I'm taking my pain meds twice a day. I was not placed on a ppi after surgery so if not better by Monday morning I will be calling the office. Other than that, I'm still on clears until Tuesday morning, I'm averaging 5000 steps per day, and I'm down 23.7 pounds from my highest in September.

Who has already had their's done this early in the month?!?! I had mine on Monday and I think I'm doing great!
  15. WOW!!! I'm not sure where to begin. I have always struggled with my weight, oh, I could lose10 pounds but they always returned with at least 10 or more friends. In August of this year, I was at my largest, we took a trip to Florida with the kids, my seat belt on the plane barely fit but I was too proud to ask for an extender, all I wanted to do was sleep, had no energy, just laid around. I have been a nurse for 12 years and have been Certified in Wound Care for 5 years now and I found myself diagnosing obese folks with leg ulcers from vein problems, lymphedema issues from obesity, and oxygen dependent in the wheelchairs in the airports and even around the pool on this trip. I had the realization, "this is the road I am on, this will be me in just a few years." I knew I HAD to do something. My little sister had the sleeve done in March, I was behind her 100%, she has had amazing results but never once did she push me to do anything. Needless to say I think she was in tears when I called and told her what I was ready to do. I talked to my husband of 15 years and my 17 year old son, they are very supportive of me, they want me healthy, and SO DO I!!! I made my appointment through a friend that had been encouraging me, as she had hers done last November. I had my initial visit, went through the classes, I had my psych consult, and the had to wait until my consult. Insurance had already been approved, just needed my surgeon visit. I had it yesterday and I got my call today!!!!!!! My surgery is MONDAY!!!!!! November 4th!!!!!! I am in shock! I start my clears in the morning for 3 days, I check in at the hospital on Monday at 12:00pm. I am so thankful for a brave little sister that is hard headed and has always done things her way, she has blazed the trail for me, I am proud to say I am following in her tracks. I love you CSH and am so proud of you!!!!!!! This is my first post! I have been a "creeper" for a couple of months now on VST. I just want to say thank you to those of you who have confirmed my decision from your posts and comments to posts. I am in the Denver area and am having surgery at St Joes. I look forward to filling you in on the next few days!!!!!!!

    Oh. My. Goodness!

Well, I did it!!!! Monday afternoon, just my husband and I at the hospital. Had a good night Monday night, tolerating my liquids fine. I was able to come home yesterday afternoon, only 24 hours after my surgery. I feel good, just sore and trying to get my fluids in. Thanks for your kind words of encouragement.

What's the story behind your profile name?

Mine goes back to high school, small town USA, rednecks, we had CB's in our trucks. My "handle" was Goldilox, I have always had long, pretty blonde hair. Brings back great memories and fun times. And the last decent nickname I've had in a long time. :)
  19. Congratulations!!!!! Keep up the amazing work!!!!! You look great! It has taken me 2 1/2 years to make my mind up this IS what I'm supposed to do. Can't wait to hear more of your story.
