Is it normal to have black colored stools after my surgery or should I contact my doctor office?

I didn't have that. I personably would contact my dr. Black usually indicates blood

Are you taking Iron supplements? That can make it black

No iron .... only 4 days post op

I did... but as in black, I mean EXTREMELY dark, but not literally black lol...

Did you have to swollow that nasty liquid stuff for your leak test? That stuff has to come out too. It made my stool very dark (black) and upset my tummy. Is it possible that's the cause?

Yap that can be blood ! But followings surgery that could be common , I'd wait for my next movement and c if it changes meds and leak test could cause it . If it persist then call ur doc

Are you in any discomfort or have a fever? If so do not "pass go' and call your MD. If not the CA-Medic has a good approach. Wait for your second bowel movement and assess. If still black, see the MD!

Has anyone had any back pain on left side?

I had that too and also didn't really have much of a bowel movement for a few days at time. I was used to having a bowel movement daily before the surgery. Now almost four months in, I am having normal bowel movements again. I also had bouts of constipation which I wasn't used to. Definitely call the doctor though and at least tell them about this.
