What is your Pre-Op diet?

My 15 day pre-op diet includes 3 Protein shakes a day as well as;

• You may have unlimited green vegetables either raw or steamed (no sauce or butter)

and unlimited salad greens (no colors other than green). In addition, you may add fresh

tomatoes or mushrooms.

• For salad dressing, you may use any spray dressing such as Wish Bone Salad Spritzer,

balsamic vinegar or lemon juice.

• If hungry, you may substitute a serving of salad with one serving of vegetable or

minestrone Soup (1/2 of can).

• ·You may have non caloric drinks: example – diet soda (but no more then 2 per day),

Crystal Light, Diet Snapple, zero calorie Vitamin Water, tea, coffee, etc.

• ·As a snack, you are allowed sugar free Jello and sugar free popsicles.

• ·If you suffer from PCOS of hypothyroidism, please continue with your prescribed

medication. Altering your medication can make it more difficult to lose the necessary

weight.

Pre op diets are all so different.

In my network I have a 30 day diet that only allows me to eat 1,200 calories.

No irritating food or condiments. I'm only allowed to eat very few things like turkey chicken and lettuce and carrots. Some fruits in small amounts and NO sodas NO coffee

It's crazy how all doctors are so different. And al diets are totally depending on your Surgeon.

My liquid pre op diet starts five days before my actual surgery date.

Good luck in your journey.

when i had the 3 weeks restriction diest before surgery i had the HMR 800 i could have up to i think 6, and up to 2 cups raw veggies (low starch ones) or 1 cup steamed veggies. i could also substitute 1 shake once a day. for 2 oz of lean Protein. i was never ever hungry and i lost 17lbs on it.

good luck on your new beginning!!!

Just finished my first week of two-week liquid pre-op -- didn't want to do the HMR 800 my hospital uses (dairy-based would not be good for me, plus other stuff I didn't want in my body) -- using pea protein which is working well. No appetite so that's good. I'm drinking other liquids -- water w/unsweetened cranberry splash and aloe, tea, have had broth a few times, etc. It's going well and I'm glad to get a bit off prior to surgery. Have been doing liver detox herbs as well but will finish tomorrow as no herbs, supplements, ibuprofen, etc. one week prior to surgery.
