What did you do a day before surgery?

My surgery is a week from Thursday, and I am trying to decide whether or not I should work or take the day before surgery off to relax. Would love to hear what others did...

  • My surgery was on a Monday. I went to church Sunday and watched the Hallmark and Lifetime channel movies the day before. Got up early and went to the hospital Monday morning at 5:30am for the surgery

Mine is Wednesday, planning on locking myself in the house, take a shower with the special soap I have to use then to work at 4 PM, pump the liquids down to make sure I have veins available for the ivs. Home at 9:30 more protein, more sf anything liquid. Another shower then to bed about 1 or 2 maybe before. Up about 6 Wednesday yet another shower and walk out of the house about 6:45. Next stop hospital.

mine is next monday. I am working the day before until 1230. Then home to do the bowel prep lol.

I caught a GI bug and was convinced they'd cancel my surgery. I was either puking, pooping, or passed out on the bathroom floor the vast majority of the day. On the up side, I Was on Clear Liquids that day, easiest 24 hours of clear liquids ever!!!!

Thank gosh I don't have to do a bowel prep. Every since I started the pre-op last Monday I have had dumping syndrome. Probably because of all the protein powder, probably lactose intolerant even though my protein is suppose to have lactose. Good luck and a speedy recovery next Monday.

I meant to say my protein powder is suppose to not have any lactose.

......lol I'm the worst example ever. My day before surgery I have a dunkin bagel & cream cheese and a dunkin bagel egg & cheese and Cereal andddd sour gummy worms. Rofl.

Ate my last meal, a 3ft sandwich, chips, soda & cake. Then drank that gross bowel cleanse.

I have to do two day liquid diet... Can't decide if I would rather have had the prescription clean out

I worked all day, packed my hospital bag, showered and used the wipe cleanse things the hospital suggested. Had my last Protein shake for dinner and a Gatorade in the evening, which the hospital required. Nothing special. Got up in the morning ready to start the journey. Good luck and keep us all posted!

Was it a regular Gatorade or a sf one? Sounds like a good idea to get in all your electrolytes.

I ate like a cow all day then cleaned my house and packed my bag in the evening. Lol

Got a pedicure & cleaned the house so I could com home to a *somewhat* clean house.

My surgery was on a Thursday. I worked all day, then cooked a bunch of food for my husband. The weekend before I cleaned my house top to bottom, did all my laundry, and cut the grass.

For the people who ate stuff....were you on an all liquid diet then took the day off?

My surgery was on a monday and I spent the whole sunday cleaning, did all the laundry and made food for my husband for the week. Finished packing my bag and went over a list of things my hubby would have to do while I was in the hospital.
