It is a glorious feeling!! Holidays for those who have had thw surgery and those whom have yet to be. I am a week done and eventhough I had some issues..it was worth it! I am happy to have given myself anothwr life and look forward to being healthy. I was unfortunately having my surgery during a nurses strike. But I am.home and recovering. Was not expecting it this hard or really boring....

Me too! And for those who think this was the easy way out, they have NO IDEA! And for their sakes, I hope they never do. But I could always appreciate a little more compassion from them! ;-)

Mkmb and others I was diabetic on five shots a day , blood pressure meds etc! So far I have not taken an insulin shot or blood pressure meds since surgery! That should be some encouragement for some of you! I wish you well!

That's what I'm hoping for, no more meds!

I will take vitamins and even a metformin over shots and all the pills I had to take! ????

I was sleeved Dec 10, haven't had any complications, and have lost 15lbs in 6 days.. A bit of an emotional roller coaster right now , excited for the quick weight loss, but sad to be so restricted..

Glad everyone made it ok. I'm having mine on the 19th! What was your diet for the day before surgery?

Mine is Thursday too! Sticking with the pre-op diet all the way (even though part of me wants to inhale a whole pizza)!

Each day gets easier. The only "pain" I have is from my incision. Gas and stomach are fine. I get my staples out Thursday. Hoping I'll be able to venture out and shop a little tomorrow. The only problem is waking up in the morning. I'm sleeping on my back still but can't wait to be able to make it to my side. Have had no problem getting in my vitamins and all my protein but I'm 24 living at home during recovery and my parents are on me every few minutes to drink, drink, drink lol. I feel like I'm always hungry and mentally I'm a little screwed up but sticking to my three tiny meals and lost 12 pounds in 5 days so I'm sure I can look past some of the struggles as each day passes. Good luck to all the upcoming surgeries and everyone who has already had it!!

Had a really rough day at work. My boss has made this super hard on me, including asking me to postpone my surgery when i had it scheduled last month, and today He was just down right cruel. Criticizing my work, asking "what's wrong, too hungry? " Insinuating that my diet has made me incompetent. I cried for over two hours. He knows my surgery is on Friday. And that I am stressed and scared. I don't understand how he can be so mean.

Harassment and hostile work environments are against the law where I live. No one should have to endure either. Is there a legal or personnel authority you could contact?

So sorry to hear that. That is cruel, screw him. I'd continue with your surgery. He can't dictate you like that.

I agree that he cannot harass you like that and I would NOT put off my surgery especially after that! I am proud to say that my work family has been VERY supportive of me especially during that time! If you have an avenue for reporting him go for it!

Today is Tuesday, December 17th. I am leaving home in 30 mins to check in at the hospital at 12PM (PST) and my surgery (RYGB) is scheduled for 2 PM. I am excited. I am emotional. I am nervous. I am anxious. I can honestly say I am not hungry though...lol...go figure. I have done EVERYTHING the doctor requires from me. All pre-work up and clearances. A three week LOW carb and HIGH Protein diet. An internal cleanse (mag citrate) and a clear liquid diet yesterday. I am READY!!! Today is another step along the way with this weight loss journey. I will check in later tonight or tomorrow and give a report. I thank you all that have offered feedback and support on this site since I have joined. I have met one new friend thru this that lives in my State (Washington). I have a great support system at home and I am so very thankful for that too. Please keep me in mind at 2PM today (PST). Thanks!!! Kari Jo

Wishing you all the best Kari Jo. Will be waiting to hear from you! God bless

Good luck to you! It is well worth it and it is sooo very important to have those around you supportive! May God bless the drs hands and all medical staff around you!

My surgery is Friday the 20th. I am so scared/nervous/anxious times ten. I feel like run away bride.... what the hell did I get my self into? Lol. Too late to turn back now. Just hold my breath and hope for the best. I'm hoping it is not worse than child birth. I did that twice... like a champ. That I can do. This... not to sure about. Can anyone answer... which is more painful this or child birth?

Don't be nervous, I had my surgery December 3rd and feeling pretty good hardly any pain. Honestly I when I had my son it was worst, child birth is worst n you have done it twice. This should be a piece of cake, of course follow instructions and walk often. Good luck
