home from surgery

hey, guys! Just got home from surgery! the pain was not too bad, it was manageable. the reason you feel so much pain is due to gas! but if you start walking around it seems to get better! my surgery was on Monday & I am already down 13 pounds. I weighed 263 & now i am down to 250 down even more but I won't know until next thursday when I get to see my doctor! What are you guys up too!? how are you guys feeling?!

Congrats! Good to hear the pain was not too bad. You're already down 13 pounds + that's awesome! My surgery date is 2 weeks from today. I'm hoping mine goes as well as yours!

My sugery date is next week on Thursday..

So how are you doing drinking fluids? Is it do-able?

Dang! Down 13 already...yay for you! I'm up 4 since my surgery Tuesday, but I tend to retain lots of fluid. Glad you are doing well. I'm feeling pretty good. I'm mostly bored with clear liquids and still having left side pain. I seem to be getting all of the fluids in without issues. I just drink all day...little sips.

Congratulations for weight loss. Was anyone hungry during the first week.

I haven't been hungry since the day before surgery....that's been 6 days. I'm drinking constantly though.

How long has it been?

How much have you lost?

Any pain still?

Does Water taste funny to you?

I had surgery on the 12th of March, so 6 days ago.

I'm just now losing my weight I gained from all the IV fluids they give you in the hospital. Highest weight was 228 day of surgery was 214 current weight is 211.

Pain is pretty minimal and only on the left side now. I'm not taking any pain meds at all since Friday night.

Water tastes pretty normal, but to keep myself interested I do some broth, sugar free flavored drinks, Jello etc.. I will be thrilled when Thursday gets here and I can start on pudding and soft foods.

Hope that helps :)

Cranial... So after day 3 you were off your meds? Wow! Have you been able to get all of your water down by the end of the day?

So far I have been, but it may get more difficult when I start adding Protein later this week. I hiked a mile at a slow pace yesterday and took my water with me and sipped and walked.

I had my gastric bypass on 3-13-13. My weight on the 12 was 280, current weight 5 days post op is 269. Pain was also minimal but that GAS is a mother. My doc sent me home on full liquids, was only on clear liquids the day after surgery. The only thing that pretty much sucks is that i have a drain coming out of my tummy :(

What do your full liquids consist of?
