Hi Everyone!

I'm new here, had my surgery on the 13th at the Mayo Clinic. They do a TON of work with you to get you ready before, during, and after. I had wonderful pain relief at the hospital with Toradol and Demerol. They weaned me off these on day 3 and I came home on Oxycodone and tylenol. As long as I remember to take them as scheduled, the pain is minimal.

I have to be on Clear liquids until next Wednesday, but they do want me to get some carbs in those liquids, so I'm drinking diluted juices, gatorade, that sort of thing. I was allowed to go home on "toots" because they said it's quite normal not to poo for almost a week. Thank God.

I'm not really hungry. I think now and then I feel pain and I confuse that with hunger. They want me to get 64 ounces of liquids in per day, no more than 8 ounces per hour, so that's a bit tricky, but I'm getting better at keeping track.

I'm also struggling a little with postop depression, but I think I know what's going on. I miss my "friend" the food. My kids are all eating, and I miss doing that with them. I remind myself that in 6 months I'll be eating along with them, and it makes me feel much better.

Hugs to you all!

Cecilia

Thanks for posting-- hope I have a similar experience later this month. I feel very prepared as my doc's office really did great. I think the prep is so important.

Wow! No wonder you are in pain. Hope you feel better soon and that the blues pass quickly. It will all be worth it! :)

I'm feeling weak & I think that's what's causing my depression, I'm hoping my doctor says I can go on puree foods when I see her on Thursday! Because I'm not getting much energy from any of these liquids! :-(

Oo and I'm down to 222 from 238 that I had last Sunday is that normal ?

Dear queasiness, please go away. That is all.

My anesthesiologist put a patch behind my ear that prevented nausea. I also was sen home with anti nausea medicine ...maybe your surgeon can call something in. I hope you feel better soon:)

I had the patch through Thursday (it's good for 72 hours) amazingly the nausea started a few hours after patch removal! :). I have zofran but don't wanna take it all the time, makes me sleepy, so I try to hold out...because I'm stupid like that. 2 hours after zofran and a nap the world is good again :)

I have to show you guys this...although from pictures seen earlier today I have absolutely NO right to complain about anything!!!

Heparin shots...those beasts are a bit zingy!

My first bandages 'fell' off after a shower today. I have the drain site (which is bruised but tiny) then 3 other incisions still covered....this is the upper most incision, just under my breast bone, it is TINY, less than a centimeter an looks awesome!!! I know the other incisions are longer but holy smokes I'm impressed with how awesome this looks!!!
