Is it okay..

Is it okay to drink protein in coffee or other hit beverage without losing its value? I know some docs say no coffee but mine says limited intake is fine and I only drink one cup a day anyways. I stopped drinking for the past month (I am 4.5 weeks post op) but tried it the other day with a scoop of vanilla protein powder and it was good! Just worry about the absorption. Any thoughts? Am I crazy?!!

I'm mixing my protein in my one cup of coffee. Back of the container doesn't say anything about heat affecting absorption

I wouldn't think heat effects protein, you have to heat eggs and chicken.

I just did a quick web search and couldn't find anything saying heat would effect it. More reason to drink my coffee after surgery! Lol

Unjury plain doesn't like heat it clumps. But the value of the protein is ok.

Thanks all! My husband also laughed at me for this one, but it is so much more tolerable for me in the coffee so I guess I was telling myself it must not be right! Lol!

Most protein powders cook at about 130 degrees.
