March Surgery Dates

I've seen topics where members having surgery in the same month have kinda banded together to offer support and encouragement to one another. I think this is a wonderful idea, and I'd like to see if there's anyone having surgery in March that would like to support one another.

I have a tentative date for the second or third week in March. I have UHC through Georgia Pacific and they use BRS for approvals. I don't expect any delays, nor does my surgeon's office, so she saved me a spot, so to speak, lol.

Tonight I have my psyc eval, and Monday is my information class, I have two more visits, 2/5 and 3/5 of my six month supervised diet, and on March 5th when I leave my PCP's office, I'll take my worksheet to the surgeon and we'll submit to insurance. That's where I'm at!

I'd love to talk with others that are looking at the same time frame as me!! :D

I started on page one of this thread, and I was surprised how many people had fallen off this list here and there. I'm so sorry. I don't know how that's happened, but I've tried my best to include EVERYONE, even those who don't have a date yet. So if you don't see your name let me know, if you have a date change, I'll change it on the list. No problem!

So I called my doctor yesterday to ask about my preop liquid diet. I was told to lose 10lbs and do the liquid diet to shrink my liver. They were very vague when I was asking what I could have (they told me to replace two meals with shakes and have a reasonable lunch or dinner).

I told them I didn't get the brand of protein drink they suggested and they said that was okay as long as I was using something that had 60 grams of protein. They never mentioned how many carbs I was supposed to be taking in.

Yesterday was my first full day on the diet. I skipped breakfast' date=' had a protein shake for lunch (Premier brand from Sam's...liked the taste), a protein bar for a snack mid afternoon and then chicken breast, green beans and a salad for dinner. Total of about 1000 calories, 63 grams carbs and 122 grams proteins. Does that sound about right?? I need some help on this.[/quote']

To give u an idea of what mine that was prescribed to me is 2 shakes (either slim fast or Atkins advantage) then sugar free jello or clear broths, then 3 oz of lean meat and a cup of veggies or 2 cups of salad greens. And no caffeine, sugar, or carbonation. I attached a pic if that helps u at all :) 800 calories max for me :) I hope this helps a little!

I am having Gastric bypass on March 11. I haven't had to do any pre op diets, which I am kind of thankful do but it's kind of not so good because I don't get the strict rule of only liquids. I am extremely nervous, but more excited than ever! I took a month off of work (I am an RN and do a lot of manual labor) which will not only help me heal but give me time to focus on behavior modification & adding exercise to my daily routine. I feel like I am being granted a new life...fingers crossed for spectacular results!

My surgery date is March 27! This is also my first post! :D

Thanks Gurl. I called my diabetic nutritionist and she said what I was doing should work fine. She was going to fax me some info. I'll share when I get it.

So far March 4th seems to be the first date of surgeries in our group! I just want you all to know I'll be praying for you, and my thoughts will be with you as well!! How are you guys doing with your pre op diets (if you have one) and what preparations are you working on? I'm all giddy with excitement, lol!!

I'm having surgery March 5th and on 2 weeks liquid only diet and I have to lose 19lbs but I've only lost 10lbs on day 9 of Optifast.

My final weigh in is this Friday and I'm afraid I won't make the goal and have my surgery re-scheduled.

Hey all after having a date in Feb. I now have two possible dates for March dependent on insurance approval. So it's either the 12th or the 19th. Really hoping for the 12th. I know it's a push, but it will be almost a month since my original date.
