March Surgery Dates

I've seen topics where members having surgery in the same month have kinda banded together to offer support and encouragement to one another. I think this is a wonderful idea, and I'd like to see if there's anyone having surgery in March that would like to support one another.

I have a tentative date for the second or third week in March. I have UHC through Georgia Pacific and they use BRS for approvals. I don't expect any delays, nor does my surgeon's office, so she saved me a spot, so to speak, lol.

Tonight I have my psyc eval, and Monday is my information class, I have two more visits, 2/5 and 3/5 of my six month supervised diet, and on March 5th when I leave my PCP's office, I'll take my worksheet to the surgeon and we'll submit to insurance. That's where I'm at!

I'd love to talk with others that are looking at the same time frame as me!! :D

I'm having surgery March 5th and on 2 weeks liquid only diet and I have to lose 19lbs but I've only lost 10lbs on day 9 of Optifast.

My final weigh in is this Friday and I'm afraid I won't make the goal and have my surgery re-scheduled.

Hey Roxy - what kind of exercising are you doing? Could u do a different cycle? Like if u r doing lots of cardio switch it to a few days of strength training to do some muscle confusion and that should help kick ur metabolism up a bit...

So we are 4 days away from needing to put up a March Post Op thread in the post op side :) yay!

Hey all after having a date in Feb. I now have two possible dates for March dependent on insurance approval. So it's either the 12th or the 19th. Really hoping for the 12th. I know it's a push, but it will be almost a month since my original date.

Allright! Another guy in March! Welcome and hope the insurance approval comes through for you. I have Cigna and went through 6 letters of "...we don't find the surgery medically necessary and need more information...blah, blah." before I got approved. It actually took a peer to peer review with my dr. calling the Cigna dr. before I got approved.

I go for my pre-op with surgeon Friday, and they told me 1 week pre-op diet with no specific amount to loose

I have my EGD scheduled tomorrow and had a light breakfast and have to have clear liquids the rest of the day. Man this is rough. I am stuck at work until 2am and have to be at the hospital at 7am. I guess I will just pull an all nighters but it will get even harder with nothing after midnight. Ugh.

Good luck tomorrow. Ironically, I'm more nervous about this part than the surgery! Lol I'm afraid ill start gagging- I have a very sensitive gag reflex!!

You won't be awake for it so you won't gag. They put a opener in your mouth and before you know it you are waking up.. Good luck and stay calm!

Hi folks, first post here. I have a surgery date of March 22, one week after my 52 birthday, which means for my birthday I get to have a chocolate Optifast shake, yeah!!

Truth be told I'm looking forward to this though there is a lifetime of work ahead of me.

Like others have said, you will be out cold. The worst part of the entire process is when the anesthesia is put in your I.V. I must have been holding my breath cause it hurt a bit and the anesthesiologist said "take a deep breath" . I was immediately out as soon as I did that. I woke up and could not even tell anything was done to me.

Welcome caseaday! There is a nice little hole that the straw goes into on top of the Optifast box...put a candle in there to Celebrate a new year and life of changes!!

Thank you. I was like you and more nervous about the EGD for the same reason. My fears were calmed when I had several coworkers tell me it was a piece of cake and you are just asleep through it. Good luck with yours too! :-)
