Hearing compliments

I don't know about you guys, but I am having the hardest time accepting compliments. I notice I don't give eye contact and always jump to how it hasn't been easy and I'm working on it. I can't just accept the compliment. I know I have self esteem things going on. But I've never had the attention on me and them complimenting means they are looking at me lol. I have issues I know! What are some things you guys reply with?

I know I look different I just need some feed back with how to deal with the feedback.

I am the same way. I literally have force myself to stop, look up and JUST say Thank You! Let me tell you it is hard at first. My first gut reaction is to curl into a ball. You don't change overnight but it does get easier. Just remind yourself of HOW HARD this really is and you deserve the compliment. B)

I say thank you & keep it going. Depending on the compliment if its rude nasty disrespectful get ready for me to send you to hell.

Yes i agree, i quickly say thank you and change the conversation..... I feel so weird .... Hope it gets better.....

I can now after 10 months say thanks and move on with the conversation. Like everything else in this process it takes time!!!!
