Rumbling Tummy

Hi everyone

When I first had my surgery 3 weeks ago my stomach rumbled in the hospital. Since then it has gotten much better. But in the last few days it has started up again. Very gassy! When I went for my post op appointment the doctor said one of my incisions was slightly infected and put me on liquid antibiotics. I guess that could be it? Has anyone else experienced this? Plus I'm not able to get in much more than 20oz of liquid daily. And Protein maybe 40gm. Any advice would greatly be appreciated!

Surgery was 10/18

Hi congratulations & I have no advice but my stomach makes noise sometimes im 5 months. I say shhh quiet Tummy lmbo

I was on liquid antibiotics and I had lots of gas and diarrhea while on them. I took them a week after surgery.

Mine still rumbles from time to time.

Hello firstplace,

I don't think the infection would cause your pouch to rumble. Is it your pouch that is rumbling or your stomach that detached? I find my "extra" stomach rumbles quite a bit and it feels funny and is loud. I know it's not my pouch because of how loud it is and i can tell it's not my intestines just because of the location. My surgeon said the extra stomach (not sure what else to call it) still produces enzymes/acids that we need so it's still working away in there. I'm assuming it gets full and has to release it and that's when I hear that noise as it churns. It doesn't hurt but, it sure is loud and I have it more so in the mornings but, it has happened in the evening with my husband asking me what that noise was. hahaha.

As far as only getting in 20 oz of Fluid.....your shakes count as part of your fluid as well. If you have an infection it's REALLY important for you to get your Protein level up. I had a wound infection that was really deep. My doc told me to up my protein intake up to 75 (I was on 50 per their instructions after surgery) and when I did get in the 70-75 I could see and feel a difference in the healing of the wound. My wound had to be packed daily by a visiting nurse and I was on an antibiotic as well. Big horse pill ones..yuck. Anyway...do what you can to up your fluid and protein intake. It will help you heal up quicker :)

I have the same crazy rumbling noises too. My kids think it's funny. As to your fluid intake, I know it can be especially hard sometimes to keep those numbers up. For protein, I drink a double shake (50 g of protein plus 11 more for the milk) in the morning. It's 12 oz of milk ~ that's a lot of bang for 12 oz. - the yummy shake is by GNC and it's called Lean Shake. I use the chocolate. Good luck!

if you ask your nut or surgeon they will tell you our bodies can only absorb 35 grams of protein at a time so any more then that is wasted

I do the double shot as well. I split it into 4 Oz Snacks.
