Please tell me this gets easier... My surgery date was November 1st. I'm on Clear Liquids till I see my surgeon on the 15th. I am struggling to keep 20 ounces down and she recommends 48-64...I'm baby sipping all day, stopped my pain meds that made me nauseated and kept up on the via timings. What can I do?? I have no motivation. I literally sit for 5 hours from exhaustion ..!!!!!

I had my surgery on nov 2nd. I agree that it is hard. I am also trying to keep up on my Water. I like both plain water and favored water. I am just afraid that I am taking too much water at once and I do not want to get sick. I have been trying to walk around as much as I can and getting on my treadmill and walking at the slowest speed for 5 mins or so an hour. I still take my pain meds because of my pain in my belly. I take it at night and in the morning. In the morning I have pains in my back from sleeping on my back and my belly. But the pain meds do put me to sleep and does not help with energy throughout the day. I do my best with everything. This isn't the easy way out and we are working our butts off!

Nursie026 & Stephanie,

Yes it does get easier. But it only remains that way if you follow your prescribed plan. I'm telling you this because I did not. I don't know what I was thinking but it was like I was trying to sabotage my surgery. I'm 9+ weeks post op and have only lost 28 lbs. I've had to go back to the beginning, back to liquids and on to puréed food because I just tried to do it my way and eat whatever I wanted. Don't be stupid like me, follow the plan and the reccomended foods, don't drink until 1 hour after eating and take your time on the excersize, remember you body has gone through a major surgery and healing takes a lot of time. Go slow, and please don't be afraid to reach out and PM me or other members. No question is a stupid question.

Good luck, Kerrie-Ann

It took about 3 weeks before I started feeling better. You have been thru quite an ordeal... I dont think I worried about anything those first few weeks except Water because I didnt want to get dehydrated. Our bodies need time to adjust. I slept alot... it's what you need to heal. Plus most of us had or have enought fat to live off of for a week or so without malnutrion becoming an issue.

I am worried about same thing. surgery9 days ago and surgeon has me on soft foods pureed. I worry because like today I was able to drink (over a few hours of course) 9 ounces of Protein Drink, one popcicle and 1/2 cup SF instant pudding and about 1/2 of a Wendy's small chili. and I feel like I could continue eating the other half. but because I feel guilty that this is too much food too soon I will wait a few more hours to eat the rest

Please remember that every doctor and nutritionist reccomendations will be different.

I was told zero carbs forever! No carbs no bread, no Pasta no crackers.

However, I understand they are soggy and I too would try them...and did. They didn't sit well in my stomach and came right back up.

Everything is trial and error at this point.

Hope this helps...good luck.

Thank you all for the input. I think my body's is in shock and starvation mode. I was 247 at surgery and I'm now 233... But again the weakness has me in bed and sipping Water. My surgeon is amazing and the chief director, but her diet is hell. 2 weeks clear liquids.. then 2 weeks puree and so on to soft.. I hope when I advance and Im allowed protein.. My body will come alive again. I can hope :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
