I'm a gum chewer but I don't swollow it yuck! Cut it out don't swallow the gum.

100% no gum chewing ever again after surgery. Because it will get stuck. The stoma - the opening to your new pouch -will be too small to allow it to pass. At a minimum you would be in an excruciating amount of pain for several days till it passes or you could have to have another surgery to have it removed. My surgeon as well as every book that I have read on this new lifestyle says NO MORE GUM for life! Just like carbonated beverages. There are some things you just have to be willing to sacrifice. Bummer I know but your health is worth it!
