Why am I not losing weight?

I was sleeved 9-23. My weight on 9-30 was 303.4. It's been 303.8 the rest of this week. I'm still on a liquid diet. I'm getting in my protein and liquids every day. Why am I not losing weight? It seems like everyone has weight falling off of them this early after surgery. What if I've gone through all this and won't lose weight? Everyone told me this would work, but the scale isn't budging. I'm starting to get really upset.

  • You're two weeks out from surgery? Stop worrying. Many of us put ON weight during our first week or surgery from the IV fluids as well as from general inflammation. Honestly, this is very, very normal

  • Thisis a marathon, not a race. It'll come off. It's a stall which is a normal part of the journey.

The scale isn't moving for me. It's just stuck and has been for a week. It's really depressing because I'm only 2 weeks out from surgery and it seems like everyone else loses a ton of weight at first. I'm eating/drinking what I'm supposed to to get in my water and protein goals. I just don't understand why the scale won't budge.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one that gained. I was so embarrassed. Today is my 2week mark.

I talked to the PA at my office about this and she said your weight can fluctuate and not to worry about it........and she also said "Throw away your SCALE!!"

Hello. I stalled one week after surgery. The scale not only did not go down, but went up 2 pounds. I was eating and drinking everything I was suppose to. Two other people that I knew had surgery the same time as myself, their weight was coming off nicely. I went to my nutritionist after 3-1/2 weeks who told me I had stalled. I was doing everything right and it as going to be just fine.

Needless to say, that didn't do a thing for me......AT ALL.

I kept doing the right thing, I wanted to say the heck with this - it didn't work for me. ( Not even surgery ). That's what I though....NOT what I did.

*** Even though my scale didn't budge, I was still loosing inches..?? Go figure. I couldn't exercise. I was either too sick or too week. However, I did go down from a size 26 pants to a 20. Yeah, that was the positive side.

Another two weeks passed and my weight still had not changed, but after that..... (( My scale did move in the right direction )) YES !! I was on a 5 week stall. I didn't stall after the three week mark I kept hearing about. I stalled after one week for a grand total of 5 weeks. I was told that I my stall again in the future. When it happens again, I know that I'll face it much better than my first go-a-round.

Sorry for the long post...I just wanted to say, it was scary and depressing, but it really did work out okay. I know it may not seem like it at the moment in your eyes, but it's going to work out GREAT for you as well.

Good Luck !!

Surg was 9/23) had a stall for a few days. But I stepped on some scales and it had gone down more. Not sure how accurate they are so I'm not getting excited about the amount but I am happy it is down.

I totally get where you are coming from. I have been in a stall for a few days. It is cruel that we stall so early in the game but I know that if I keep working the plan it will start moving in the right direction.
