I have had a rapid heart beat for a few years now. After lots of testing i have been on 50mg of atenelol for about three years now. Taken in one dose a day. After surgery the surgeon told me to cut pills in half and take twice a day. Called cardiologist yesterday for a refill and asked to change to 25mg twice a day so i wouldn't have too cut them. Well they called me back tonight saying no way i need to take one 50 a day. I am going to listen to cardiologist because i feel they know better how there meds work. I am just writing this to see if anyone else had dealt with anything like this? Many times in the last month (since surgery) o have felt my heart racing but couldn't figure out why. I guess that's why.
