Where do I stop...goal weight related....

So I am 5 lbs from goal. Well, to clarify, an initial goal that, 100 lbs ago seemed like an incredible dream. It is still about 14-15 lbs above the top of a healthy BMI (I am 5'4 and the goal is 160). My thinking in picking this weight was 1) I thought I might be happy at that weight; 2) it seems like a higher goal weight might be easier to maintain and 3) my doctor was/is happy with this goal. What I figured I would do, ultimately, was get to 160 and then focus on reducing BF% rather than a number on the scale (which would probably result in a little more weight loss). Now that I am so close, I am wanting to revise that number down. Like maybe I want to go down to a "normal" BMI. I am also afraid that I might never be happy with my weight and always afraid of regain. It's like I am afraid of maintenance- it's got to be harder than this and I am already struggling from time to time (I am terrible about getting exercise in and am feeling hungry often now. You could say my sleeve is fully healed and happy.) I have always given the advice to others with the same question- you should make your goal weight where you feel most comfortable and where you are not afflicted with any co-morbidities. It makes a lot of sense, but what if you are never comfortable? I am free of my pre-surgery co-morbidities (DM & hypertension), so there's that. This probably should have been a blog post because at this point I'm rambling...LOL I need some insight- really tired of obsessing about my weight and food and and and...

Congrats Laura-Ven! Get hubby or daughter to take the pic with you in one leg. I fell over too' date=' but hubby got the pic first![/quote']

I'm telling you we need a big pants thread!

I tried a few online calculators. My body fat is between 27 and 30. I'm gonna try a bodpod soon. Sunnyvale fitness has one.

Lynda.... I have seen you, and let me tell you there is no way you are a 27!

Girl if your a 27 I'm a 57% :P

My body fat is 33% according to the same scale I've had for 6+ years (so at my highest weight- 260lbs to now my lowest weight-147 lbs). I started at 50%. I will try to post some big pants pics.

My first goal was 160lbs. When I got there I knew I wast happy. My next goal was 155, then 150, now it's 145 and I can guess at 2lbs away that I won't be happy there. My husband does not want me to lose any more weight. He liked the 160lbs look. A normal BMI would be 136lbs. At 18 months out my mind still plays tricks on me. I still feel very heavy most days.

Thanks! But I've seen you in person and you were looking great! And I know you are skinnier now!

And here's my big pants photo till someone starts a new thread.

Before and After Pants

OK, I made a big pants thread in the Vet's Forum.

Shoot, got rid of the size 48 pants a long time ago. Maybe I will have to swing by goodwill or value village and live vicariously for a moment by taking a picture with me in them. :) I am size 32 now so could go camping with them, just need my sleeping bag and pillow.

It's hard to hold em and take a pic! :P

You are looking awesome!! I would kill to have your skinny arms. I will probably end up having plastics eventually on mine, but keep hoping they will shrink.

You've also got thigh gap. I never knew that "thigh gap" was a thing until recently. There are dozens of Tumblr blogs about it. How to achieve it, how to fake it, etc.

I'm sorry but there is no way in heck this girl is 26% body fat. I stick by my original estimate of 22-25%.

Agree! Go out and buy the WW scale from BBB or similar scale. It will measure your body fat % with micro currents as you stand on it. Trust me, you cannot feel anything. :)

Awe, you should have kept just 1 pair. I kept my one biggest pair for when I am feeling like I have not accomplished much. Definitely go buy a pair!

My scale is suppose to take body fat percentage with the little currents. It says my body fat is 29.1%

Oh well, I choose not to believe it!

Girl that thigh gap was faked!! :D

You've met me in person. I'm knocked kneed as all get out :P

I'm just standing funny but hey at least I can "fake" it now :)

I hate to ask and feel silly googling it, but what exactly does "faking the thigh gap" mean?

And why is the thigh gap so important anyways??

I guess it is something females intuitively understand. :) I always thought love handles around the waist was a good physical measurement. Or lack of muscular definition around the body (abs, biceps, quads, etc). Must be a mars and Venus set of perspectives. :)

I just stood with my feet apart... I'm not sure the true way to fake it???

Like I said I'm truly knock kneed so it will never happen and my thighs are BAD I mean saggy lumpy and wrinkled I just know how to take a good picture :)
