September 2013 Sleevers :)

Well I didn't see any started over on this side, and since it's already into September I am starting one. I will go post over in the pre-op area.

My surgery is on 9/11. 9 more days.

Sept third was mine. Getting stronger everyday. Nausea the day after surgery but that was due to extra anesthesia needed. I'm of course trying to figure out the hard way about how slow I need to take in food.. Holy crampage bat girl! Couldn't stomach the same whey protein I could pre op so I took folks recommendation to try protein premier shakes... Yay they are just fine and affordable. What is freaking me out is the amount of calories I am taking in right now . Four hundred max. I assume this will get better the farther away from surgery I get.... Yes? I'm worrying about my energy level when I head back into the classroom ...

Sleeved 9/3. Finally feeling human again. Was released from the hospital today(again) after being readmitted for dehydration. New pain and nausea meds made a world of difference.

If your suffering at home, don't be afraid to pester the doc and maybe even go back in if you need too. Your health is worth it.

I had my surgery sept 5. Have had complications and am still in the hospital but so far today, in four hours I've been able to keep blown 8 oz water!!! Little victory lol

Hello all,

I had my VSG on September 3. I'm in my liquid diet phase...and I must say...I am NOT loving it. Does it get much, much better??

May I ask your age??

Hang in there kiddo. I too was the third. Been experimenting with shakes Soups. My girlfriend found yasso frozen yogurt . 6 grm Protein . It has 12 grams of sugars but got me through this past week. I'm finally getting down 600 calories as of today! Premier Protein Shakes from SAMs 30 grams protein have been a godsend. Tomato Soup, chicken And stars soup. I even had two bites of egg with a small taste of cheddar cheese without issue. (i chewed the hell out of it but it was like heaven)I've lost about eight lbs the past six days. Just listen to your stomach. I have eaten too fast and had the worst cramps. I had to lay down drink some Water and pat my stomach. Give me a holler any time .

Today is the first day I am really annoyed about food. 6 days out and I just want to eat something!!!!!! Full liquids blows.

I sooooo feel ya! Every freakin commercial is about food, so I turn off the TV and get a book to read and turned a page to read about this families Thanksgiving meal ideas. Ha! I had to laugh! We can do this! I just keep saying I can and will do this! I'm 5 days out today!

I was the 3rd too. I'm so grateful my surgeon's plan progresses to soft food relatively quickly. Started the puréed/soft stage today. Humus went pretty well at lunch. Then tried some Protein fortified mashed potatoes at dinner which went down well too. It's so nice to have some texture, even if its super mushy texture. Definitely a mood lifter for me.

Still really focusing on upping my liquids. After I can hit that goal for a day or so, I'll get more concerned about hitting my protein target. Looking forward to more energy in the days to come, because being worn out all the time is a drag.

It will definitely get better. We just have to keep trudging for a few weeks. Then we'll (hopefully) start enjoying our new skinnier selves : )

Tomorrow is my day! I have a late afternoon surgery time so I will be going 15 hours (if they start on time) without fluids. :o Ugh. I live in the desert too. My mouth is going to crack and then crumble into dust. LOL

I am 90% numb and 10% completely freaked out.

Have you been able to eat the "stars" or are you straining it? The protein shakes I are too sweet...I cannot seem to tolerate sweet anymore. They make me soooo nauseous!! So ive just been drinking milk and having homemade soups (the broth). I am going to try the lil tube protein again and see if I can tolerate that! I sure hope so:)

I agree! That's what's got me so down!! I'm always on the go and I am ready to be back at it again:)

Oh my gosh, the day is approaching so fast. Surgery in 6 days, anxious, excited and nervous all at once but overall ready.

I was sleeved on the 9th and I am now at home. My surgery was textbook with no complications. I experienced no nausea at all just a lot of gas pain and cramping. Every time I stand up and walk around I burp a lot. I've been sipping water as much as possible but have gotten very small amounts of protein so far, 10g of isopure maybe yesterday. My abdomen has a lot of bruising and my incisions are very tender. Sleeping is difficult because I am a belly sleeper and obviously with this I can only sleep on my back. I've found that I can only get about 3 hours at a time sleeping like this. My goal for tomorrow is to get as much protein as possible and actually eat two meals. I had my surgery at 330 pounds and as of today I am 323. I know most of that is organ resection and water but hey I'll take it. I hope this pain goes away soon. I don't seem to have a very high tolerance for it but I never really have had anything like this done before haha.
