The PCT offered me a shower the morning after surgery. They unhooked my IV and covered it so I could shower comfortably. It seriously felt heavenly to shower.

Only? ;-) That's an incredible loss!!! You should be proud of that. Remember this is a process not an overnight fix. Just be patient and stick with it. You're doing great!

STOP it Jeannie! You are losing as fast as you can. Darlin', this is forever. There is no rush, you are doing Great!

And your MD will tell you, but MOST of the time it's 'as soon as you want'.

I found when I did shower it felt better to keep my back to the showerhead and let the soapsuds run over my stomach so not to hurt my incision area.

Ok great! I just know I feel so much better after surgeries when I get a warm shower!
