I took two weeks off but I have a desk job. If I had a physical job, I would have taken more time. But, everyone is different and we all have different pain levels and heal at different rates.

At 2.5 weeks out I photographed a wedding for at least 8hours. Mind you, this consisted of alot of running around, bending, and stooping...and sweating. I was worried before my surgery that I wouldn't be able to make the entire night, but it wasn't too bad. Maybe the 30lb weight loss helped. ;) I made sure to drink lots and lots of water!

I went back to work after two weeks and I really did regret it! I felt like I was run over by a truck! One thing to relax at home...totally different to get out and resume your previous routine! Each week got better however...and now after 6 weeks I feel just fine.

Take as much time as you need until you have enough energy where you do not want to leave at lunch time. For me, this was 3 weeks. First week was a wash because I was in the hospital getting over some minor complications that put me into ICU. End of second week still had me feeling drained. At the end of 3 weeks, I felt like there was enough energy to put in a whole day. Be prepared to relax and let others help you for 5-6 weeks with a lot of things you used to take for granted.

I agree with Fiddle...I didn't feel close to "normal" until the end of the 3rd week. I had help lifting kids, heavy things, and completing anything strenuous up until the 6th week. But energy levels were definitely back to full swing by the end if the fourth week. Everybody is different, listen to your body.

I am an ER nurse and took 10 days off. It was plenty for me. Its dependent on many factors. Mostly I was bored before a full week passed.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
