Quit long before surgery and have not given in. Its not worth it to me. My priority in life is to be healthy and move forward not to slide backwards and die early.

  • I quit on 1/2/13 over 2 months before surgery..I was away on vacation last week and smoked all week long but stopped when i came home... I was worried I wasnt gonna be able to stop but i made myself .

Confession time! I did quit smoking before surgery and i am cheating now. i have had 2 cigarettes this week. i DOT NOT want to become a full time smoker again, but i know i'm headed for trouble just smoking occassionally. I've tried it before, and it didn't work.

Additionally, my doctor told me that should i smoke after surgery that i am running the risk of developing ulcers in my sleeve.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone I'm trying to find it I don't want to put myself at risk

I currently smoke, but I'm pre op and have to quit before my surgery. I have 2 close friends that had rny and both are heavy smokers. One is absolutely fine, the other has had major issues from smoking. So it depends on the person. I for one will not take the risk by smoking post op

Hi, I tried to quit smoking but I have the urge to smoke a cigarette. I am not a heavy smoker. I smoke one to two cigarettes at before going to sleep. And surgery was on the 15th. I feel like smoking but I am scare as well.
