Greetings all! I've posted 1-2 messages before this in the Intro section and I chatted in the Chat Room for the first time today. It just occurred to me that I ONLY HAVE 1 MORE DAY UNTIL MY BANDING!!! I'm both scared and excited. I've been chatting with folks in the Chat Room about what to expect in order to decrease my anxiety level.

I have so many questions and so many mixed emotions, including the fact that I want --nay, I NEED this to work. Since I need to rely in large part on my own will power to succeed, I'm scared that I'll fail the way I have in the past. I'm trying to think positively, but now that it's real and only 24 hours away, the old insecurities are cropping back up.:help: :help: -ginatae55

Good Luck On Your Surgery Tomorrow. The Surgery Was Not That Bad. I Would Stay Away From Perscription Pain Killers They Can Make Your Stomach Queezy. Motrin Worked For Me. Staying Positive And Knowing That It Will Still Be Work Are The Sure Signs That Your Ready And That You Have Realistic Expectations. Its A Great Tool That Can Help Many People When All Else Has Failed. I Am Glad I Did It. Good Luck, Don't Be Nervous, And Let Me Know How Your Surgery Goes. Take It Easy And Let Your Body Heal At It's Own Pace. Remember Some Take Longer Than Others. Don't Base Your Recovery On What Others Say Their Experiences Where. This Will Be The First Of Many Times From Now On That You Will Have To Listen To Your Body.

Thanks Laurigee! I keep forgetting that just because something happened to 1 person, doesn't mean that it will happen to me. I just can't wait 'til it's over.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you take with you to the hospital?

The surgery is not that bad. After I left the hospital I didn't take any of my pain killers........Mainly because they taste really bad after you crush them. The only pain I really had was pain at the biggest cut out of the six on my stomach. To be honest I got really depressed after about 4 days at home. I didn't know if it is normal but I cried and wondered that I did to myself. Just make sure your have something to keep you mind busy and that you have someone you can call or visit. Other than that I'm really happy I made the decision to have the surgery and with the support of friends and family and web sites like this I know we will all success in reaching our goals. Good luck! All the things you are feeling are normal! Take some time today and read through the threads here and you'll gain lots of information. I took a pillow with me for the ride home and it helped. Let us know how you did when you can!

It is so normal to have mixed emtions so close to surgery. I couldn't wait for the day, I knew it was the right decision for me. It's been a quick and rewarding two years.

Wow, I remember all the excitement I was feeling the day before my surgery, I just couldn't wait! Everyone worries about whether this will work for them. To be honest, unless you just really, really eat around the band, it will work. You just have to try and make healthier choices and listen to your band when it tells you that you have had enough and stop eating. I am sure you will do wonderfully with it. Best of luck and be sure to check in after your surgery, once you are feeling up to it, and let us know how you are doing.

Ginatae55..I really didn't take much with me to the hospital. I was in the beautiful robe they give you until I was released. Which was a day later. I would suggest that you wear clothes that are easy to slip on and don't wear shoes that you have to tie. Slip ons are the best. Like said above a pillow for the ride home is nice. I actually took my favorite blanket also and kind of snoozed on the way home. Make sure you have alot of things such as juices(I was allowed cranberry and white apple), and anything like motrin so you don't have to worry about leaving the house after the surgery. I also had alot of magazines, crossword puzzles, etc. in the house before hand so I wouldn't get bored. Now is the time to catch up on alot of reading. I also printed off alot of info on lap band that I kept reading over. Just enjoy doing nothing for a few days. Good Luck again and if you need to just talk or have any questions feel free to ask.

Hi Bailey, these people have no idea what you're going through nor do they have the knowledge needed regarding the LapBand to make an unbiased decision as to whether it's good or not for you. But deep down in your gut, you know what you need, and if it's LapBanding, then go for it. Just read all the posts and you will find comfort, reassurance, and all the info you need to make the right decision. If after that you do not want to do it, well that's OK...but at least the decision will have been yours and yours alone.

You know, when you are at the point of considering surgery, usually it's because you've exhausted all other options. So Good Luck with your decision making and keep us posted. Take Care! Gigi

Bailey, When I first decided to have the surgery, I got very little support........my husband was not understanding (he's 125 lbs and 5'8, like he ever had a weight problem), one of the ladies I car pool with said she didn't think our company's insurance should pay for people being lazy, even my father in-law had something bad to say only to my husband of course (once again like he ever had a weight issue). But this was something I did for me, not everyone else. We will success with or without their support. Because we are strong and have sites like this one where we can get support. I think when people are not supportive of are decision, it comes back to their only issues that we will change or be different people. Putting ourselves first instand of them. Sorry to be so longed winded.

Bailey, congrats on making the decision for yourself. Sometimes that is what it comes down to. We can't rely on others. I had a good friend that knew I was struggling for some time. I had already lost 40 lbs on my own. He basically told me I was taking the easy way out. It is not like that at all. YOu have to work with the band. It is your friend or your enemy. When they say it is a tool they mean it. You have to work at it. You will love it though. Best of luck to you.
