Going home tomorrow after a failed swallow test. So glad I passed today and advanced to a shake. 30 minutes to drink 39 to rest 30 minutes for water 30 minutes to rest. My new mantra for a lonnnnng while. Gonna do one more cycle and then off to bed. Ready to pack and go home.

What is this swallow test that you speak of? I think I've only seen it mentioned once or twice, but have no clue what it is.

For my surgeon, the next day after surgery, hey give you a swallow or leak test. You swallow barium and they the X-ray Doctor looks to see if there is a leak, if not the you get to start your clear liquids.

I'm getting ready to be discharged. I had my surgery on Friday :)

Some doctors do it while you are still under anesthesia (mine did) so some if never experience that.

Postop question--

How do you measure your fluid intake? My surgeon wants me at 64oz postop, and I have no idea how I'm going to measure the fluid.

Any advice? :-)
