June 21, 201313 yr My son is graduating from preschool And it is special treat to take him out for dinner and I'm just wondering What would be the best thing to do or to order three weeks post op on mushy food?? Help I am so nervous!
June 21, 201313 yr Author I am not a huge soup fan and can't do the cream very well and a lot of soups in restaurants have cream in them. Maybe Chili if the restaurant has it?
June 21, 201313 yr What does your post-op diet allow you to have at 3 weeks? I was able to have soft fish and well-cooked veggies at that point. Also, mashed potatoes were allowed for me at that point.
June 21, 201313 yr Chili can have a lot of fat. You certainly don't want the dinner celebration to turn into a dumping syndrome nightmare. You need to ask for nutrition guidelines at the restaurant if they are available, before heading to dinner. If you can't find something suitable, get your son the dinner he wants and sip water. Better than sabotaging yourself or getting sick at this stage.
June 21, 201313 yr Where u going? Shrimp Try soup Chew chew chew and lil bites A soufflé or eggs quiche Desert lol pudding etc Sent from my iPhone using VST
June 21, 201313 yr Not sure that I would do chili 3 weeks out - I'm cleared for that in week 5. I'm at the same place as you and my Dr. allows baked white fish provided it's very moist and mushy veggies. Small bites and chew, chew, chew. Hate to repeat what's already been said but most soups are a good choice too provided they don't have big pieces of meat or crunchy stuff. Good luck!
June 21, 201313 yr Three weeks and you can't do Soup? I'd say a tall glass of Water and enjoy the company. It's a good reminder that not all celebrations need to be centered around food. Why not start a new tradition and change it up this time around? Mini golf? Bowling? A bounce house place?

June 21, 201313 yr I agree what what they have all said! I just want to add that you should not be too adventurous in what ever it is you decide to try....you don't want to have a "situation" while out in public! Go very, very slow and chew well. congrats to your son!
