I will wake up coughing a few times a night. It hurts so bad and my anxiety over coughing may be even worse than the pain itself. Wondering if this is normal, maybe getting stuff out from surgery.

Super normal after abdominal surgery. Squeeze a pillow tight to your belly... it helps.

I went under with the worst head and chest cold ever. I coughed up chunks the day of surgery and for the next week. Ouch! Hold the pillow, take the pain meds at night and ask if you can take mucin ex to break it up.

You can still use the spirometer too if you brought it home.

This is actually normal because of the fact that you did just have a Trach Tube down your throat. I'm a vet tech so sometimes the trach tube does bother patients. You can alway ask your Dr for a cough suppressant that should help Get better Soon!! I'm hoping to have my Surgery in end of Sept or Early Oct
