I'm counting down to a May 8th surgery date and I'm thinking about the pain after surgery and what the options are since we will be on a liquid diet. Do we get liquid meds? Anyone know?

My surgeon prescribed 2 large bottles of liquid hydrocodone for me after surgery. I must admit that they made me sleep like a baby, and I used up every bit of it even after the pain was gone...oops!

The first day in the hospital I had a pain pump. I didn't use it much tho. It made me very sleepy. After that I took a very small pill. My surgeon said not all meds had to be liquid. Depended on what it was and how it was absorbed.

JonnyZ most likely it will be given thru your IV, Then liquid at home if you still need it. Good luck to you, my surgery is may 9th!!

My doctor prescribed liquid pain meds but I was fortunate & didn't need them.
