They didnt prescibe a PPI for you when you were released from the hospital? I was prescribed 30mg Prevacid for 3 months. When the prescription was over I started taking 15mg over the counter Prevacid and it controls my heartburn just fine. I was glad to be able to go down in milligrams. I would call your PCP or your surgeons office for a prescription maybe.

Prilosec has worked for me. I take it every morning and haven't had any heartburn! Hope you feel better!!

I was just there today! Damn I should've asked!

I'm 7 weeks out and the over the counter didnt work anymore, I went to my pcp to get a prescription. It's a world of difference.

Apparently everyone is different so before you try a prescription try an over the counter. I use Prevacid and KanesMom uses Prilosec. See if one of those do the trick. I take mine every morning and never have heartburn but you might need something stronger depending on how much acid your tummy is producing.
