In my experience, you'll know! I have to take a bite, wait... See how it settles, the take another bite. Once I ate a bit too quickly and got a pretty uncomfortable pain in my chest. Did you feel sick or have pain at all?

If you eat too much, you'll know. You may have excess saliva that you spit up, or even food. You'll feel discomfort when you overeat. Measure out what you're eating so that you know rather than "small" exactly how much you're having.

How do u know if u ate too much? I had a small piece of chicken breast cut up took half hour to eat is that too much??

How long ago did you have your surgery?

Make sure you weigh/measure all of the food that you consume. This way you will know how much you are eating and if you are following the guidelines from your doctor.
