Help after Surgery

I live alone and am wondering how much help I will need after surgery. My sister is coming from out of town but I wonder how long she will need to stay with me.

  • I'd say 3-4 days. It really depends on age though, it seems if you're say over 40, you might have a rougher time. I'm 29 and it took me about 2-3 days to really feel myself.

I can't lift for a few weeks? Is this the rule for all surgeons? I'm still a few months from surgery' date=' but my husband has a new job and can't take time off. I'm a stay at home mom of a 3.5 year old and 9 month old. NOW my 9 month old weighs over 24lbs.[/quote']

I was told no lifting anything over 10lbs for a few weeks or you can develope a hernia. Ask your surgeon. I'm 7 weeks out and I'm still not cleared by my dr to work out my core for one more week. Check with your surgeon.

I am a week out each day got better.

I would say prepare to have some one available to take you to your first appointment. You may not need it but have a back up plan.

By day 3 I walked 4 blocks.

Had 1 bout of nausea. Thank God that didn't last.

Skinny Sexin by day 4 already. Yay

Sipping, walking, rest. Then repeat!

Finding Joy in every Day!

Good luck

Jessica, my dr showed me a specific way of picking up a child, but still warned me not to try it for AT LEAST 2 weeks. You will be having major surgery and even if you feel normal right away as I did.. You're not healed by far. You need to perhaps arrange for help at least the first week. After that I had a huge problem forgetting I couldn't lift and kept catching myself
