I was under the impression that there was no need to exchange currency for TJ. As American dollars were accepted most everywhere there. But there was a recent post that said I needed to exchange for other expenses (tips, purchases, ect). Can anyone who has been there please advise?

I've read much of the same. The most common rule ppl stress is have a lot if singles as opposed to large bills.

No need to exchange. Everyone I encountered accepted American money. Even in the restraunts and stores. I used my credit card too with no problems. I agree about small denomination bills. You don't want to get stuck with a bunch of pesos as change.
