No Pre-op diet

I met with my surgeon today. It was my last appointment before surgery! I have read so much about people having to do a pre-op diet for 2 weeks. My doctors said that the diet only shrinks your liver a little bit. He said he used to make his patients do the diet but then he tried the diet and it was awful so he doesn't make his patients do the diet anymore. Does anyone else not have to do a pre-op diet?

I cheated a lot on my pre op lol but its good to do pre op because your liver shrinks and it makes it easier for surgeon to do the surgery laparoscopically also it help you to train u r self how to live on liquids which will help u after surfer for liquid diet

My Dr. requires a two week (10-Day) liquid diet prior to the surgery. I have been practicing but can never make it through the 3rd day.

I don't feel so alone now, my Dr requires a 4 week diet. The last 2 weeks nothing but liguids. Today I ended up eating a couple of eggs for protein instead of the liquid shakes. I'll try and be good for the rest of the week lol

Hang tight, after day 3 the rest was a breeze.

I didn't have to do a pre-op diet, my Doctor just said not to eat anything after midnight the night before & my surgery was at 7:30 am :)

I have to do a pre op diet. I'm currently on day 4. The first day was the hardest but its pretty easy now. Besides I'm losing weight already. Down 8 lbs since Monday.

It depends on the doctor I see..
