2 days post op, questions?

Ok I know gas pain is part of the post op process but how long does it last?? Even after every sip of liquid I release a painful burp. I'm also pretty gassy elsewhere and I haven't even had a bowel movement yet. I actually just started taking colace today because of the narcotics I'm taking.

Also, how long for the swelling around the incisions to go down?? The biggest one hurts a lot and is really swollen..what's others experience with this?

Another input would be great! Just got home from e hospital and I'm trying to adjust.

My gas in my shoulders and chest lasted 5-6 days but everyone is different. I had pain at my incisions for a full week. I just took the pain killers and at day eight I was a lot better.

I have a friend that came home from the hospital one day post op and felt fine. I hope you start to feel better reall soon.

Oh, all my bowels came out like liquid, that is all that is goin in.

Everyone is different. I'm just over a week out and still have gas. Best thing is to WALK! My main incision gets better everyday. Today I was able to get out of bed without putting a lil pressure one it. Good luck!

I'm 3 days post op and haven't had a BM at all. I get burps and hiccups but mostly hurt where the repaired a hiatal hernia not so much the incision sites.
