  1. Did you go through a hair loss spell? I was sleeved about a month after you and that my only issue right now is the major loss of my hair.
  2. I'm soo upset. I knew that at one point post surgery I would loose some hair but now I can't brush it or run my fingers through it without my hair falling out. My hair is thinning to the point where I am having to look at wigs....this just makes me want to cry cause I've always had beautiful hair and it's practically gone. I'm struggling with the fact that perhaps the weightless isn't worth it if I'm going to go bald at 32. I've takin all my vitamins with biotin on top and am trying my best to get the protein everyday....my 3 month check up showed that my protein was good so why am I going bald? Just really having a hard time staying positive when I feel I'm loosing more than just the extra weight.
  3. Congrats! I was sleeved on 1/21 but just hit my 50lb loss on 5/16....I started at 218 and am at 168 now! Its a wonderful feeling to hit such a big number!

  5. Ive only attempted having frozen strawberries blended in with my protein shake.....luckily the seeds always manage to make it to the bottom of the glass so i dont swallow them.
  6. I was sleeved the same day and I used milk of magnesium...tastes bad but within 6 hrs it worked...i think i will have to do this once a week just because of the lack of fiber i can get in at this point in the diet and the iron pill i have to take....good luck!
  7. The article is incredible! Congrats on your success and your new lease on life! I am newly sleeved and have already enrolled to do the 5k color run here in Orange County in May! Im hoping to adopt the same excercise habit.
  8. How do you get your ticker to show up on your posts? Im so inexperienced with tickers
  9. Id like to generate enough buzz about this topic...I just think that there have been so many people that I have met on here who have and are so supportive and helpful. It would be incredible if we could get enough people interested that would like to plan for a large get together or mini vacation celebration and see how it goes..maybe make a yearly event. Im newly sleeved but this just sounds like fun to me! What do you think?
  10. I dont know about any of my fellow sleevers but even before I got my sleeve I had made plans to travel this year to places Ive always wanted to visit here in the US. One of my first trips planned is a trip up north to the Redwood National forest. I want to see all the natural beauty out here in California while I can and with my sleeve and the weight that I will be loosing its the perfect mix for me. However I realize that I am single and most of my friends all live back east and not all can afford to travel with me this year or even beyond. Thats why I am starting this forum.....I think that it would be a cool idea for fellow sleevers to want to meet other sleevers and also have fun to link up on here... Its always fun to meet new friends and to maybe find a travel partner. Granted I think they should have like sleeve conventions or cruises so that a bunch of us can vacation together but until I find that I thought what the heck....If you plan to travel to a city where there are other sleevers then you can meet up and do something instead of feeling alone on your vacation. I live in Newport Beach, California and if anyone visits I would be happy to show them around and have some fun with a fellow sleever or two! Lets see how many people like this idea..maybe someone can help me refine this...Id love the advice/help! Brooke
  11. I was just advised to take any thick lotion or oils that have a large % of vitamin E....that's what will help tighten your skin....I'm using several different kinds but palmers that you see on tv for pregnancy stretch marks and all is a good one....anything like that is what you want. I lotion up 2 times a day....of course it will be hard to see the difference for a while but a guy friend of mine swears by it.

I hate posting pics of myself but I figure that aoart of my journey is facing how I look now so that months from now I can remember and see how far Ive come!
  13. Right now I'm drinking the adkins shakes that have 15 g of protien. I try to get at least 2 in which is still hard
  14. I was extremely lucky as my mom had gastric bypass in 92" so she was very supportive and excited for me. However, I only told immediate family cause many of my friends would not be supportive.
  15. Hi I was sleeved on the 21st also. I had a hard time with getting fluids down at first but am being more adventurous now and diversifying my liquids. My post op visit went great....down 7% in less than 2 woks which my drs goal for all patients is 10% in the first month. I still have gas issues...haven't had a BM since morning of surgery and I'm worried that my urine is way to dark the past two days....I don't see how it could be dehydration cause I drink all day and night....anyone else have this issue?
  16. I had mine on the 21st and have been doing ok...full fluids, struggling to get all of it in with protien but its improving. Get a lot of belching when I've drank too much, but other than that no head hunger or any kind for that matter. I guess I'm too afraid to mess my sleeve up...ill go as slow as I need to. It's cost me too much to mess it up.
  17. I'm 4 days post op so I am having the same issue...I have been trying to get as much water as possible and sleep.....I have my post op visit tomorrow...hoping all is normal and ok.
  18. Mine went fine...was a bit sore in my throat for a few days after but then again everything has been going around, so it could have been a cold...I found that I had a hiatal hernia which they repaired when I got sleeved Monday!
  19. I'm 3 days post op and haven't had a BM at all. I get burps and hiccups but mostly hurt where the repaired a hiatal hernia not so much the incision sites.
  20. Hey cynic figure! Finally got sleeved! Now just to get enough fluids down to keep from being dehydrated! Lol! I hate the feeling of being so weak and tired too but I keep yelling myself its only been 3 days. I tried beef broth last night and discovered that I will never eat it again as the smell alone was a huge turn off for my stomach. However I have not been hungry even though I've been around people who were cooking some yummy smelling things! Lol
  21. I am 3 days post op and have the same fear...I had a hiatal hernia repaired while sleeved and get hiccups a lot which hurt. I tried broth last night and the smell alone made me ill...so I've stuck to water a remade protein drink and popscicles....I think I've averaged 24 ozs a day which is not enough but each day I'm getting more and more down....I think it just takes time and we have to be cautious and patient.
  22. I'm pre-op also. My surgery is on Monday! To be honest I did cheat earlier but only a few times, a piece of bread here and a bite of chicken there. But nothing that would have put me over my calorie intake each day. I've lost 10lbs but 3 were just in the past Two days. I'm sure with only clear liquids sat and sun I will drop a few more and I'm on the smaller end than most people on here. I started out at 220 my highest and am 106 as of this morning. Don't worry, they do these surgeries all the time and they are more worried about your liver being smaller to make the operation easier.
  23. I am excited..I had a rough week last week cause of financing issues and mix ups between my dr.s office and the hospital...thankfully that is all worked out now. Ive not been a big fan of the all liquid diet the past week either, but ill do what I have to do. I asked for 3 days off cause Im a nanny to an 11 yr old boy. I honeslty dont have to do a lot and he is good when I tell him im not feeling well and my employers are aware of the kind of surgery Im having...I have a high pain tolerance and have had my gallbbladder removed and other surgeries where the pain afterwards is mainly due to the gas they pump into you thats trying to escape. So How are you doing so far?
  24. I'm not to far from you Cyncitygirl! I live in Newport Beach and I'm having my surgery on the21st at Tri-City medical center.
