This got so any posts that I decided to talk to the expert. I work with my surgeon and asked him the question. He said alcohol too early runs the very high risk of causing ulcers on the staple line

  • Asking when it is safe to drink alcohol, eat a cheeseburger or anything does not mean one person is any less serious about this surgery than another. My best suggestion is always to follow what your

  • You are two weeks out.... I'm not even going to go here Nevermind!

My surgeon only told me about alcohol because I specifically asked about it' date=' he didn't give me a handout or anything.

He said its ok to have after 4 weeks out. I get why your asking Sarah, if its only about calories you might think you can have one or half a one but if it poses a real risk to your health you might think differently.

I don't know why people are acting like this, it's a perfectly valid question![/quote']

It's different if your asking before you have the drink

Just kinda wondering , maybe someone can answer this . Alcohol is a blood thinner , they gave blood thinning medication throughout my stay in the hospital , so I wouldn't get blood clotts. And besides this whole surgery is a risk to begin with !

So just because the surgery is a risk in itself, you think it's ok to add alcohol into the mix because it doesn't matter anyway? How old are you? Grow up.

Honestly, Im preop, and I wonder the same thing. I know you will get alot of flack for drinking 2 weeks post surgery, but its refeshing to hear because people do drink and do alot worse.

Sarah z,

Do whatever u feel comfortable doing. This is YOUR journey....

Sorry some of the people on here never made it past junior high.

????

Everyone is different. Every surgery is different and every recovery will be different. If you can drink it girl, enjoy!!

I would stop replying to this thread if I were you Sarah, obviously people just want to attack you

My doctor cleared me for wine at 2 weeks. I have a few glasses every week since then. I am 10 months post op and have done very well. I'm almost to goal.
