January 11, 201313 yr I am 15 wks out , & would love to go out & eat seaweed salad & sushi . Has anyone tried it yet? Dr said I could eat anything , but I'm just curious how this would digest .
January 11, 201313 yr I love sushi but cant eat rice. It comes right back up. Frusterating. I also cant eat bread/toast, maybe I will be able to later. I am only 2 months out.
January 11, 201313 yr I'm praying I can still tolerate sushi post open. I LOVE it. I told my husband we'll order a boat, I'll have like 4 pieces and he gets the rest.

[/quote'] I love seaweed salad!! I am almost 5 weeks post op and can tolerate it just fine. I, like many others, still can't handle the rice. Also no cucumber or other raw veggies. I just order the fish (eel) I like and have it wrapped in seaweed paper with some eel sauce and maybe a little cream cheese.
January 12, 201313 yr I love sushi! I ate it when my nut cleared me for all food. I have never had a problem with it. I can only eat a few but they sure are awesome!
January 12, 201313 yr I was cleared for sashimi (not sushi) at the start of week 4 and it went down very easily and stayed down. Couldn't eat very much of it but what I ate was delicious.
January 14, 201313 yr Yahoo!!! Today my husband and son skipped work/ school and we took advantage of the clear weather and took a walk on the beach. Then we had sushi!!! We haven't gone since my surgery and that is the only thing we have when we go out to eat. It was awesome no problems I had one order of salmon sashimi with tons of wasabi. The only weird thing is having so little, it just looks funny...
January 15, 201313 yr I love sushi and really wanted to try it for my birthday last week. I'm 2 months post op. I was able to have salad (I LOVE the ginger dressing so much!) ate half of it. And about 3/4 of an Alaska roll. Was soooooo good!! The rice does sit a little heavier then other foods but I was personally able to tolerate it. I thought I had eaten a lot but thought back to my pre op days where I could eat 4 rolls and realized how much I love my sleeve. And I don't feel deprived one bit
January 15, 201313 yr I've had it twice now! LOVE IT! I've only eaten one piece both times- once at Hibachi and once at Texas De Brazil.
January 15, 201313 yr I have had rice at Chinese and Mexican places (4 weeks out) with no issues. Small amounts. Looking forward to Sushi now! Thanks for the topic.
January 15, 201313 yr I had edamame and most of a shrimp shumai appetizer last night. It was really good! I could only eat about 1/2 of the edamame.
January 15, 201313 yr If you do the fish only without the rice ( sashimi) It will go down better. Sushi rice has sugar and could be yucky on your tummy I would think...
January 15, 201313 yr I'm a little over 4 months out. I eat sushi all the time. If I get a roll I ask them to make it with less rice. Just so I can actually eat more of it. I will eat 3-4 pieces of it depending on how prissy my stomach is being. I've been eating sushi (rolls/sushi/sashimi) since a little over two months out.
January 16, 201313 yr Had 8 small pieces of Sashimi tonight. Nothing else. It was wonderful and no stomach issues. Big load of protein and good oils to boot. I'm 5 weeks out and so far have not had a single issue with anything I have eaten. Lost 46 pounds of the 130 I want to lose in that time. I keep waiting for the other shoe to fall and have some issue but so far this has been easy and a blessing of gigantic proportions!
