Leak?

How do you know if you have a leak? I'm 3 weeks out and have been feeling great but today all the sudden I have pain ( like sourness) in the lower left quadrant, around where my two of my largest incisions are.

I'm terrified.

I have never had one but I have read that one sign of a leak is left shoulder pain, caused from the leak putting pressure on something. Also vomiting and fever. If the pain is still there tomorrow call your surgeon.

There's a range of symptoms, in the book the doc's office gave me: it can include flu like symptoms including a fever and increased heart/respiratory rate. Only a doctor can diagnose a leak.

Soreness may just be a result of them jabbing your midsection with a poker....no forum takes the place of a real diagnosis, if you're worried call your dr's office asap

Could be your internal stitches dissolving. The NP at my surgeon's office warned me that a few weeks post-op some people have pain, sometimes severe. It is apparently normal. Call them and let them know, though. Doesn't sound like a leak, though.
